It only made the press because it was Ginnivan.Has happened before, and will again. It’s poor but it’s how they work through it now
Again I doubt it’s as big of a story if it’s different players

Atleast as over reacted as this has been, if it was anyone else it’d be a lot less meaning. It only made the press because it was Ginnivan.
To be fair there seems to be a fair % of hawks posters conceding he has done the wrong thing. So you know he really has F*cked up.Without reading all these latest posts, let me guess how it plays out...
Hawks fans defending him.
Everyone else thinks he's a w@nker.
I'm sure you would be happy to role up at Rod Laver to see what ever famous musician you paid top dollar to see. Only for them to not show up as they had a hangover. I'm sure you will be happy as larry once they tell you they will reschedule at a later date.
It made the press because someone connected to SEN was affected by it. Players have been no-showing footy clinics since foreverIt only made the press because it was Ginnivan.
True.Again I doubt it’s as big of a story if it’s different players
Luckily for me over the years the cancellation has happened in the days before the event. But I was unlucky enough to have a rap duo from Long Beach only have one member turn up for the show. And that member couldn't be arsed rapping along to full vocal tracks that were playing half the time. Also, I don't think you've been to many concerts if you think that it doesn't happen there too
The point was it was a paid clinic specifically set around the 2 players. And was cancelled at the last minute that parents and kids would have shown up before being notified. The inconvenience and the specifics of the event are slightly different to player not showing up to a free school or footy club run clinic.Yep, it's exactly the same thing as a concert.
I was the photographer for a Starlight foundation event way back at the turn of the century taking photos of sick kids and their families with footy stars, and a number of AFL players didn’t turn up.It made the press because someone connected to SEN was affected by it. Players have been no-showing footy clinics since forever

Doubt they’d of organised it and would’ve just originally agreed to showing up.And a bigger story because they organised this themselves the players at $65 a pop.
Out of season to get some cash on a Sunday morning.
If this was organised with the club you could just wheel out a couple of other players.
Again I doubt it’s as big of a story if it’s different players
It was a private event, ran by an organization that was not anything to do with the Footy club.Whoever rostered the players for the footy clinic the morning after the bnf deserves a kick up the clacker. Not making an excuse for the players, but that obviously didn't help.
Wear it, make it right and move on. Nothing more you can do.Yes, but they welcome and embrace the attention. They make money off their profiles.
It's a bit rich to play the 'It's a nothing story if it's a couple of random players, instead of players with the following of Ginnivan and Watson" when the whole reason people are paying quite a bit of money for a footy clinic is because Ginnivan and Watson are headlining it.
People loved Akermanis' antics early days too. At some point, Ginnivan and Watson are probably going to have to realise that when they constantly put the spotlight on themselves at every opportunity, when they inevitably f**k up (and I fully expect Ginnivan at least to remain unchanged for the rest of his AFL career), the media will gleefully pounce on every misstep.
This was shit form, plain and simple. Not a hanging offence, but seriously $65 a ticket and then both players pulling a no-show? It doesn't say much for their character. And it's on them: not "their managers", not "whoever scheduled this the morning after the B&F", not "Entitled Karen and her snitch kid running off to the media". Their fault and now they have to wear it.
Very interesting the current discussion about Darcys leadership, fits absolutely in the new mold you had been alluding too. But now we are questioning if that's good enough, that if that personality fits being a captain. It's a very Clarko viewpoint. The rest of the world has moved on and aren't so fond of that viewpoint.
It's Cornes clickbaiting.Very interesting the current discussion about Darcys leadership, fits absolutely in the new mold you had been alluding too. But now we are questioning if that's good enough, that if that personality fits being a captain.
Just an interesting throw back to our discussion a month back where you were critical of the leadership type Sis is.
I think the one puzzle piece your missing is that footy although a sport is physical demanding. Other leadership models you might see in education or teaching don't need to factor that in at all.
That makes it worse that they conveniently were sick and couldn't make it to a clinic they tried to get out of weeks earlier. It was a private event, ran by an organization that was not anything to do with the Footy club.
The players apparently tried to get out of it a couple of weeks beforehand.
No idea who would be responsible - player, manager, club? but FFS check your calendar.Doubt they’d of organised it and would’ve just originally agreed to showing up.
About as believable as blaming Daylight Savings for coming in late for a scheduled Thursday morning event. It was a private event, ran by an organization that was not anything to do with the Footy club.

Day drinking?About as believable as blaming Daylight Savings for coming in late for a scheduled Thursday morning event.
How early are BnF dates known? Might not be arranged until you'd been knocked out of finals? Could have easily been booked into this before they had a BnF date.It was a private event, ran by an organization that was not anything to do with the Footy club.
