I'm sure you would be happy to role up at Rod Laver to see what ever famous musician you paid top dollar to see. Only for them to not show up as they had a hangover. I'm sure you will be happy as larry once they tell you they will reschedule at a later date.

Yep, it's exactly the same thing as a concert.

Also, I don't think you've been to many concerts if you think that it doesn't happen there too.

Luckily for me over the years the cancellation has happened in the days before the event. But I was unlucky enough to have a rap duo from Long Beach only have one member turn up for the show. And that member couldn't be arsed rapping along to full vocal tracks that were playing half the time.

But have put up with artists coming on 2-3 hours later than scheduled. And on all these occasions I was not impressed or happy about it. Especially when it was a week night and I had work the next morning.

The point was it was a paid clinic specifically set around the 2 players. And was cancelled at the last minute that parents and kids would have shown up before being notified. The inconvenience and the specifics of the event are slightly different to player not showing up to a free school or footy club run clinic.

It made the press because someone connected to SEN was affected by it. Players have been no-showing footy clinics since forever
I was the photographer for a Starlight foundation event way back at the turn of the century taking photos of sick kids and their families with footy stars, and a number of AFL players didn’t turn up.

Anthony Stevens did and his soon to be infamous wife, but he also had with him an out of clothes police escort because he’d apparently played up the night before in town, got locked up and had somehow convinced them to let him go(but with an escort). It made very little sense to me at the time and still doesn't even now thinking back.
It never made it to the press either.

And a bigger story because they organised this themselves the players at $65 a pop.

Out of season to get some cash on a Sunday morning.

If this was organised with the club you could just wheel out a couple of other players.

Unfair that a young innocent helpless child like Ginni is being criticized for not upholding the standards and responsibilities expected of a grown adult. Those footy clinic folks are a bunch of mean bullies for leaking this to media.

* tongue in cheek *

Again I doubt it’s as big of a story if it’s different players

Yes, but they welcome and embrace the attention. They make money off their profiles.

It's a bit rich to play the 'It's a nothing story if it's a couple of random players, instead of players with the following of Ginnivan and Watson" when the whole reason people are paying quite a bit of money for a footy clinic is because Ginnivan and Watson are headlining it.

People loved Akermanis' antics early days too. At some point, Ginnivan and Watson are probably going to have to realise that when they constantly put the spotlight on themselves at every opportunity, when they inevitably f**k up (and I fully expect Ginnivan at least to remain unchanged for the rest of his AFL career), the media will gleefully pounce on every misstep.

This was shit form, plain and simple. Not a hanging offence, but seriously $65 a ticket and then both players pulling a no-show? It doesn't say much for their character. And it's on them: not "their managers", not "whoever scheduled this the morning after the B&F", not "Entitled Karen and her snitch kid running off to the media". Their fault and now they have to wear it.
