That goal on the left in the 3rd was pure class.
Silenced a few critics.
As good as he is with the "around the corner" kicks, I think he realises (or has been told) that a drop punt is better from further out.
Yes, that goal was a beauty.

Cmon Anzac day, yes it was an important goal but what's so special about 30m out directly in front? Has the bar dropped that low for AFL players?

Btw, Sunday was the template for him. Low possession but scoreboard impact.
Interesting definition of 30m out you have. Also under a fair bit of pressure - both physical and in terms of the flow of the game.

Thanks mate.
The kick actually travelled over 50 - well and truly cleared the goal line.

Agree if he must have low possessions.
Be nice for him to do both - lots of possessions and scoreboard impact, (directly and indirectly).

Why do we always want players to do more, especially at 19 and in their second year?

Ginni is a gem. He will get better. He may add other strings to his bow. He has aspects of immaturity to his game, which the coaches will work out with him.

But he’s a very effective small forward already, and could easily have had more goals this year if even a few extra - and justified- frees had been paid.

its a tough gig averaging 15+ as a permanent small forward. when he gets a bigger tank he is a chance.

regardless of my previous comment I think he is top 3 in the rising star and last year would've probably won it with 38 goals.

Um, might want to rewatch it
I am with you Anzac, it was a beauty. There was the pressure of the game, we were in huge trouble at the time, the physical pressure was coming from his right but Jack held his own line and was not forced to his left. If he flinched a millimeter he misses that kick.
It was a low percentage goal and he had the skills to nail it.

He's kicked 36 goals this season, which is a great return for what is generally considered a tough gig - small forward.
To put it into context Kozzie Pickett has kicked 2 more than Ginni from one more game.

Plus Ginni has finished on top of the Boo-ometer ratings this year.
Quite an achievement for a 19 year old who has never been reported or ‘taken out’ players off the ball, or continually dished out head high tackles.

As others have said. Scoreboard pressure with 6 minutes left in the third, plus that's not an easy kick either from 40 odd out leaning back with pressure coming.

You dont expect many 19 year old small forwards to kick those in their first full season of games

And another thing, by 3/4 time on Sunday he’d kicked half our score. At 19. In the biggest and most hyped H & A game in years if not decades.

To nitpick aspects of his game is to ignore the benefits he brings. And he’s exciting. The noise level goes up when he gets near the ball. He knows it. We know it. What’s not to love about that?

so he grabbed the ball and looked at the clock? he is a genius.

I like guys who have a laser like focus in wanting to kick the goal. Too many players, want to pass the ball off, which can lead to second guessing themselves, resulting in a missed goal.

Being unselfish is admirable, but if ingrained, it can backfire, especially when a match is crying out for some individual brilliance.

I would love to see magpie players take more responsibility, heck they might even surprise us...
