He trained fully on the Saturday. Was named Sunday night. Was omitted on the Monday afternoon firstly without explanation by the club, then supposedly due to illness, before we settled on "management".

It appears pretty bloody obvious to me we were covering, ballsed that up when we had the option to be honest and Ginnivan was either dropped or disciplined for God knows what.

If he was simply dropped I have no idea why the club felt the need to lie about it anyway, he's still only 20, not an established member of the 23 in 23 and it wouldn't be worthy of anything more than a paragraph or a click bait title in a trashy Murdoch paper.

Hell, Port dropped their captain and the sky didn't fall in for that mob of barrel loving supporters did it?

Probably decided "illness" wasn't the right reason when people would've seen him on Saturday night completely illness free.

Ginnivan could murder someone and people here would defend him 😂

Ginnivan being dropped is also a bigger story than anyone from Port Adelaide.

The more pictures I see, the more it feels like a pre-planned event. He seemed to know the people there in the photos, and dressed like he was there for a function; not for clubbing.
There are a ton on the venue's FB page.

Some girl even bought her collingwood jumper for him to sign. Not something you'd bring to a club unless you knew he was there, I wouldn't think.
But then, I've never been one for clubs so what would I know lol

I mean, I guess it's not like someone could get there and text their mate to say Ginnivan is out, and they show up half an hour later...

I used to see rhyce shaw smashed off his head mid week at eltham pub...
Social media wasn't as big back then

I used to see footballers buy drugs off a guy back in the early 2000s.

They were Carlton players but I won't mention names and anyway, it's no worse than Carey drinking 30 beers or whatever he used to to.

You don't see a reason why the club would want to protect the 20 year old Ginnivan from another negative story? Or think that Ginnivan being dropped wouldn't have triggered negative Ginnivan stories? The media reaction to him is JDGesque. Doesn't matter that he's not a star - I can't think of another kid copping the same sort of attention that he attracts.

I think it's most likely Ginnivan was sore/below fitness at the captains run (like others, yes) and was left out as he didn't really cut it last week, and they didn't want to bring a out of form and underdone player into that fixture, so we went with Reef last minute, while sparing Ginni the headlines.

It would be pretty absurd if one of our players thought they could go clubbing the night before a game. You wouldn't even do that in local footy ressies. I highly doubt it happened.
Reef didn't do much as it turned out.
The ball just slipped through his fingers a couple of times.

Perhaps some posters can self moderate and move on from what Ginnivan may or may not have done?
That's asking quite a lot here.

Hes as 20yo lad. * me im glad there were no camera phones or social media when i was 20

Worked at the Tunnel nightclub in the 80's. If people are struggling to handle Ginnivan's alleged indiscretion, they'd be having kittens if they knew what footy players got up to back then.
