Jack Ginnivan 2022
Champion Data shows his source of goals have been broken down into four categories: free kicks (10 goals and three behinds), general play (12.10), marks (15.6) and 50-metre penalties (2.0).
That’s about 1 in 5 scoring shots from free kicks with the AFL admitting he was unfairly treated and should have been given several that weren’t paid. See below.

Revealed: AFL admits polarising Pie was treated unfairly

The AFL has admitted several free kicks should have been paid to Jack Ginnivan, as numbers show he has been a major beneficiary of free kicks.

Assuming it was 2022.

Same year: Charlie Cameron averaged 0.9 Frees For , Tom Papley 0.9 FF , Cody Weightman 1.0 FF , Jack Ginnivan 1.4 FF , Joel Selwood 1.9 FF

Maybe this is further confirmation that certain positions will record more frees than others simply from the role that encompasses them.

True. It may also point to why forwards cop more stick than midfielders for perceived milking of high tackles as the outcome more often leads to a score.
Definitely. Even umpiring lends itself into it. They'll blow the whistle sooner when it's in the middle as nobody wants to watch a scrum.

Forwards in general are targeted more than mids. Forward kicks a few behinds? Panned. Midfield gathers 25+ but turns it over every second action? Praised.

The Cats boys circa 2006-2011 were big into having "fun"
No comparison to WCE lads just prior to that. Or some of the retiring hawks players from same era that went straight into dealing… even in clubs. One was so obvious you couldnt go to boutique or eve, or the beach without seeing him leaning up against a wall scouting the floor for customers. Guess it’s pretty hard to go from $400k a year to nothing

After a WCE GF win in 2006 I remember seeing 15 - 20 of their players lined up waiting for the Eve cubicles. Not a single person at the urinals… which suited me fine

All had gastro at the same time? What are the chances

It's time some of you start showing Ginnipig the same love he's shown us. Unloved players leave for other clubs. I'd be devastated if Ginni left us.

He brings smarts to the side that you simply cannot teach. Everyone was shit against West Coast so I don't know why most of the focus went to Ginni after that loss. Just a few weeks prior he turned the momentum of a game within 5 minutes of being subbed on. He makes things happen with limited opportunity.

Can’t help thinking the club may lose patience with jack. A lot of his antics were ok last year when he was kicking 40 goals, but now seems a distraction with little in return. Is always going to be up against it with his lack of pace and tank, and the umpires have succeeded in stamping out his technique to draw frees. Hoping he pulls his head in and prospers for us, but not feeling it

I'll state first up that I like Ginni and I'm not suggesting he has been a bit of trouble.... But, having any player on the list the doesn't commit 100% to the culture and standards can be cancerous and devastating to the team overall and should be shown some tough love, set clear boundaries, and be given clear KPIs to address. If this isn't achieved then Bye, Bye!

Let it go. He's a kid. He's clearly supported by the club. And one of the last to leave the training track every session.

He’s one of the most loved players on this board

I doubt Ginni is in any trouble whatsoever considering how many videos the club posts of him. It’s just rumours and should be treated as such.
We can expect to see him before a magistrate in the county court now.

I read this thread and get the impression a kid is gone. Younger folk in the seconds still haven't had a chance to show their wares. Whatever happens, plenty of water to flow under the bridge yet.
Amazing isn't it?
Judge. Jury and executioner it seems. Cut off his head.

His decision making is so good. But you need the tank....

He is only a 3rd year player who naturally doesn't have a tank it will take him longer then mids with natural endurance to build it to AFL midfield levels.

Year 5 on we will see the best of Ginnivan if the club sticks by him till then. Stephenson is an example of how quickly the wheel can turn, I'm an unashamed Ginni fan and think he has "it" to make it with hard work to build his deficiencies up.

Worked at the Tunnel nightclub in the 80's. If people are struggling to handle Ginnivan's alleged indiscretion, they'd be having kittens if they knew what footy players got up to back then.

spent many many nights at that place in late eighties early nineties. the sticky carpet  .
