He's got another 12 months then, given he only just turned 19 in december lolTom Papley kicked 30 goals at 20 years old. There’s Ginni’s target
The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. The umpires don't like it and will soon become very reluctant to pay them. Everything else about his game reeks of potential.
Kevin Bartlett says hi as does duckwood. The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. The umpires don't like it and will soon become very reluctant to pay them. Everything else about his game reeks of potential.
Will fast become a fan favourite this kid. One that opposition fans will hate too, I am tipping
Him teaming up with Elliott in the forward line this year is going to be fun to watch

I really doubt that. The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. The umpires don't like it and will soon become very reluctant to pay them. Everything else about his game reeks of potential.
Very true TD but duckwood has been a stager since his first game. Some of Superstars get away with that
It's an admirable trait in players today. The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. The umpires don't like it and will soon become very reluctant to pay them. Everything else about his game reeks of potential.
The'll still pay high contact when it occurs and he'll drop the shoulder and lean in to make sure it occurs. I was worried at first and thought that he'd play for it when better options were on, but am now satisfied that he's smart enough to only go that route when there's nothing else on, or as a method to break a tackle and get his arms free as part of going for something else, which is what I think Selwood has generally done. Selwood method is still trying to make the play, burt in a way that also makes him likely to get frees - I'm happy with that - it's when a bloke puts himself out of a contest in an effort to get a free that it really does my head in..The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. Disagree on Selwood - a number of times on replays, and that is instant replays on closeup vision - I have seen him actually deliberately positioning his head and running into an opposition hand. The'll still pay high contact when it occurs and he'll drop the shoulder and lean in to make sure it occurs. There was no room for doubt - it was premeditated and deliberate and caught on replay.
Look I have no problem with acknowledging Selwood's courage or skill - but - when you deliberately aim your head and run at an opposition players hand that's beyond the pale for me.Agree, but I also think it's premeditated when Ginnivan drops his shoulder at a tackler to try to get high contact.
What I meant was that when Selwood does what he does, he's generally not only playing for a free - he also tries to keep going when the whistle doesn't come. I don't have any general objection to players drawing frees, but I hate it when a Collingwood player puts themselves out of a contest by trying to draw a free. If you're playing for a high contact free, you've still got to be trying to get the ball moving if there is something else on, or at the very least, if there is nothing on - ensuring a stoppage.
I am reading Papley comparisons and I think that’s an admirable and achievable target.
We have desperately missed a goal kicking small forward since Dids…… last one was Krakouer and that was only two years as he was picked up late in his career.
As much as I like mccreery, it’s an offensive forward like Ginnivan who can improve the team.
Dids will doI don't see his style as being similar to Papley yet. Papley just gets front and centre and then moving through the contest at the fall of the ball every single time. That hasn't been the way Ginnivan has played so far. Probably more like Dids
The only frees he gets are for above the shoulder and most times the free is there. The only negative I see is his habit of playing for frees. The umpires don't like it and will soon become very reluctant to pay them. Everything else about his game reeks of potential.
I think you are over-reacting to be honest.Look I have no problem with acknowledging Selwood's courage or skill - but - when you deliberately aim your head and run at an opposition players hand that's beyond the pale for me.
I don't dislike Selwood but I am disgusted at such courage and skill being polluted by crass opportunism.
What infuriates me is there is no way the umpiring panel can not be aware that he does it, by turning a blind eye they encourage it and so our game becomes a little bit more like soccer where staging is endemic and youngsters seeing him getting away with it are encouraged to copy.
