Bring him home.
I hope I don't offend but I personally would find this amazing and wonderful. Such a great player for us and it just feels right. I don't care if he sees the field I just want him back.

What are you on about. How could that offend anyone?

I was driving in my car and heard the news - felt as happy as a clam. He's a superb player but he's also a great mentor from what I can gather from different player anecdotes (Dylan Moore and Charlie Cameron spring to mind). Offer him at least a year as a player and then a coaching role...

Yeah sorry mate. Just seems like anything said in this forum is sure to offend someone.

It's their problem if they're offended.
Don't let them affect what you want to contribute.

Ive noticed over his journey that Gunners tends to have cycles in his form / health.

He can have quite a poor year (by his lofty standards) yet follow up with a really strong season the year after.

Hopefully the Lions had him on one of his 'down" years and he comes back to us in 2024 and gets his mojo back.

Our forward line always looks better when we have a Bruest / Gunston combo. Two very, very smart and skillful footballers that the opposition has to pay respect to (unlike this year when I felt opposition backlines treated our forwards apart from Lewis with borderline contempt at times).

Edit I should have said "apart from Lewis and Bruest with borderline contempt"

Well it’s basically Gunston in for Fergus Greene now. Hopefully gunner can find a bit of his old form great reinforcement for a forward line that’s light on.

I love Gunston and appreciate all that he has done but I am really struggling to see the point here. He's 32 next week and his best days are a long way behind him. We have Breust in the front 50 providing experience and we should be pumping games into young players.

I fully expect to be shot down for having this opinion and that is ok but I am not sure what the benefit is to Hawthorn. I think we have moved on.

Tbh - the ship has sailed. If he was a Tom Hawkins type Key Contested forward, sure. But he's not. I'd rather put the games into younger players.
