Do you actually count Gulden and Oliver as targets? Lukosius is nothing but a role player either.

Improving your role players is just as critical as trying to land a high profile recruit, especially when our role players are the likes of McHenry and Murphy!

We've gone out and made offers to Redman, Hayward, Petty, Gulden, Oliver, Moyle, Lukosius, and Perryman off the top of my head and landed none of them

Maybe some of those offers were more serious and likely than others, some were role players, but across two years as a club with a wide open cap and what should be an improving trajectory, we've struggled to land anyone

Our only confirmed landed best 22 target over the last two years (Neal-Bullen) basically landed in our lap through luck

Perryman? We have never had any interest there

I wonder how many people will change their tune if Port give up a pick beyond 20 for him?

He would have been a great addition to our side for a second round pick and the sort of trade we need to improve. A quality player for a low price.
This is key.
I reserve my decision on how ok/unhappy I am with this until the trade is done

I feel like it may be port F1 though which will make it still hard to assess as that’s probably about right given their anticipated ladder position.

Maybe F1 with some steak knives coming back which would be about equivalent to our 25 this year

Let me say this though- if we pay more for ANB than they do for him I’ll be pissed

"Perryman is one of the game's most wanted out-of-contract players, with the versatile Giant being hunted by Port Adelaide, Adelaide and Hawthorn, with other clubs also interested in the unrestricted free agent."

We were heavily into the Freo defender from SA last year too, until he signed a long term deal to stay

Sounds like he might be off to Collingwood

Absolutely, would be a major fail to miss out on Cumming given his relationship with Tex.
A young captain of the club who you will play the rest of your career with woukd be stronger consideration than a guy in his last year

Yes Tex can help sell the club, but playing there together wouldn’t even factor in to the consideration

Fair enough, but aren't you happy we backed out of a 6-7 year deal at $850k?

I'm sure it will at least be a consideration, but obviously size of contract is the most important aspect. Offer 5 years and just get the deal done.

We will see even in your best case scenario we tried to get him and couldn't so yet another failure. High end talent about to enter their prime and especially key positions don't come around often.

They have an a grade midfield to deliver the ball to him and unlike us they don't have to give up top end picks for him either because they are actually a decent club.

He's a cream player and that's exactly what they needed. We are six years into a rebuild and still not ready for cream players and just finished bottom 4 and still publicly shame our players for celebrating against team values like we have any idea what successful values look like

I think you need luck to land most players. It's often a set of circumstances. At the moment just about every club has money to burn so I'm not sure or length of contract is as appealing as it used to be.

People will blame Reid but for me it's all on Nicks and Kelly. Its the appeal of the football program that gets the players.

Anyone that thought Luko wasn't going to a finals contender was kidding themselves.

If we end up trading 25 for him I’ll question if he really did land in our lap

It may be that we did identify him and the family issues fit the reason to come and made for a good excuse

Didn’t similar happen with Gibbs where it was initially reported itwas a family decision, partner needed it etc but itwas clearly pure of$$ and a flag contender

You're honing in on the negatives which is typical BigFooty

You forgot:

Reckon it’ll be whatever they get for Houston, maybe Carlton’s first this year or next.

Yes. And I'm not overly keen on Luko if he cost a first round pick.

But I am concerned that we've targeted a bunch of players and ended up empty handed for the most part

Not the end of the world, our forward line is probably one part of the ground that isn't an issue. For the money we'd be paying him as well as what we'd give up, might've dodged a bullet. Makes more sense for Port as Dixon is gone and Marshall might be as well. Not sure how they get that deal done though. Does losing Houston and adding Luko make them any better?

ANB, have to nail Cumming and make sure we draft the right boys this year.

You are overrating him. He has and always will be a soft footballer who goes missing when it counts. Dimma is a great judge. Have faith in that. Port just snagged themselves a very flakey footballer who has lived off of his reputation as a talented footballer. Talent clearly isn’t everything.

Welp, can't blame you for changing your tune, you've always said he is shit 😆
