Straight swap depth player for depth player? Clearly not rated by the coach…or something like that ;)

I think hardwick might pass or if he did, he would be telling Rachele its a new start and the old not so hard at it physically rachele is gone. So a coach like Hardwick might actually shock him and get the best out of him.

Crows need better coaches right now

Luko is not elite talent. On the bass of his AFL career he's a nice to have at best. SA based footy reporters and recruiters rated him the best talent from the state since Platten, D Jarman, Bradley, McGuinness etc, and pride means they can't disavow that view. Six years in the system and he doesn't have a defined role, hardly torn a game apart and been dropped for lack of effort. He's on a very decent wage looking to be matched. We have bigger issues to deal with IN THE MIDFIELD

Damien Hardwick is a dead set killer.

He looks at players like jigsaw
pieces that need to fit into a premiership puzzle.

He thinks Luko is too flaky wants him and his salary far away from GC. Dimma is a bloody good judge of players.

Anyone who coughs up a first rounder in that context is very foolish - by all means take on the salary if you must but a second rounder is tops.

Or, just maybe, he thinks having King, Walter and Luko with support from Andrew and Reid is more quality tall forwards than the team needs, and having mixed and matched a bit over the year, has decided Luko is the one that doesn't fit.

They were drafted, and once they settled in at Port they were amongst the two most hated Port players. When Roo took Chad out at the Ramsgate, we all cheered, including Graham.
Scott Thompson wasn't drafted.

Don't confuse 'talent' for 'competitiveness'.

Luko is in the top bracket of players in the competition for 'talent'.
However, he is probably in the bottom bracket for players for 'competitiveness'.

The absolute stars of the competition have a combination of both (Bont, Petracca, Horne-Francis).

Sometimes pure competitiveness can bring a less talented player up into the top tier (Cripps, Steele)

But talent alone is rarely enough.

IF Jack wants out and to the crows, is a 3 way trade in the offing?

Crows
In: J Lukosius
Out: F1

Suns
In Rioli
Out Lukosius

Richmond
In Crows F1
Out: Rioli
Replace F1 with Rachelle and I reckon it works pretty well.

Tigers don’t go full 18yo but players with talent in their age bracket. Also maybe go after Tsatas or Hobbs with some of the other picks they get.

Maybe some picks to even it out ect.

and can't trade their F1
Thats not completely accurate. Can't trade it without permission from the AFL.

The whole limitation on trading future first round picks is around stopping clubs from trading out their future. Port's situation comes because they spent two first round picks to acquire a 19 year pick 1. So haven't sold out their future.

I imagine if port traded it into this draft for a 1st round player on draft night of some description that would be fine, or if it formed part of a trade deal to get a current 1st

They would be fine without doing that, they just ask the AFL for permission to do it. IIRC the Cats did that and it was ticked off because we were trading for young players.

Theo Doropoulos:

The showdown between the Crows and Power for Sun Jack Lukosius is heating up. After catching up with coach Matthew Nicks on the Gold Coast earlier this month, the 24-year old has also met with Port Adelaide.

Reportedly backended contract though, 2 years, close to 2 mil

I do think both coaches will be super keen but the list management teams will tread what's right, won't be that pricey for a fat contract imo
I wouldn’t believe everything you read
