In his last four years at the Blues, he's played just over 40% of the games.

So a 2-year deal is surely all you could realistically offer to him at this point.

I'd say there's a chance the Humphries camp only asked for that much.

He's a confident and supremely talented kid, he'd be backing himself to have a big couple of years and then cash in on that form after building his resume.

We don't hand out long contracts at the best of times, and there's really no reason for Lawson to handicap himself at his current worth, when he could easily be worth double when he's next OOC if his trajectory continues.

Humphries only extended for 1 season (on top of the standard 2 year draftee contract)

2 years for maybe the equivalent of one season of footy given his history. Last time he played a full season 2017. He's done that two times in his 11-year AFL career. 2 years is more than enough. Extend if he gets his body right and can perform well. Could probably extract more money if he did that too.
