Pros:
* Run and carry is superb.
* Dose set shots directly in front. :D

Cons:
* A lot of those kicks were skyballs ala Rosa, so I can forsee a few heart-in-mouth moments next year. Maybe Simmo should give him the Priddis treatment (aka: "see ball, get ball, handpass. If I catch you kicking that ball its my foot in your arse").

I was wondering if you had missed the joke!
For some reason I thought you were suggesting that he always had his head over the ball, doing the dirty work... you used the wrong ****ing emoji

I don't think Redden plays anything like Priddis personally. He isn't close to as good as Priddis in and under and he seems to like to run and carry a lot more. Because of his height he can go 3rd man up (racks up hit outs) and is also a strong mark but mostly uncontested. The only thing similar between them imo is they are both tackling machines. If anything I'd say Redden is more like a mix of Shuey and Yeo but with the same tackling intensity of Priddis.

I think he is a great addition to our midfield as Priddis, Shuey and Redden should be a great combination - as I feel they have complimentary skills sets. I don't think Redden is a Priddis replacement at all. If Priddis were injured I'd bring Hutchings in to the team as the extractor. Redden could play as an outside mid and possibly at half forward as well.

Redden is a gun, his stats last season were very good (arguably better than Shuey's - stats only, not impact in games) and yet you can tell he has even greater potential. Am excited to see how he fits in and whether he prospers playing in a much better team. Having two ~190cm midfielders (Redden+Yeo) as marking targets next year bodes well for us transitioning from back to forward effectively through the middle I think. I just hope both of them really sharpen their inside 50 kicking because if our forwards are getting silver service from the centre corridor and the wings we will be almost unstoppable.
Im not the one that mentioned that he was pridda's replacement. few sources including the club. He him self i think stated that he will be an extractor type mid. He isnt as good as priddis in the extractor role (obviously) however, he does play that role and can be a link up player. He has been given instructions to gain muscle by simmo and i think that kinda means that they want him to be an extractor type. reading through lions big footy and lions fans facebook posts, it seems that redden mid to short range kicking is pretty average, so i guess it has to improve. Hopefully simmo and the coaching staff help with it.

not as bad as matty rosa. for an inside mid i take that. tho still has to improve his mid range kicking.

If he can get the ball down onto his foot he is automatically a better player in the forward line because Selwood was worse shot on goal west coast have EVER had
I've never had more confidence in a guy missing a goal within 20m of the goal line. Astounding how shit he was.

That gale down at Corio Bay will probally help the poor bastard.

My predictions for next season in terms of stats for our mids:
Priddis 5 goals, Average 27 disposals, 7 clearances, 7 tackles
Redden 7 goals, Average 26 touches, 6 clearances and 6 tackles
Shuey 21 goals, Average 25 touches, 5.5 clearances and 4 inside 50's
Gaff 9 goals, Average 27 disposals, 2.5 clearances and 4.5 inside 50's
Sheed 10 Goals Average 20 disposals, 3 Clearances and 4 inside 50's
Masten 5 goals Average 22 disposals, 3 inside 50's and 2 rebound 50's
Jetta 19 goals, Average 18 disposals , 4.5 inside 50's and 2 rebound 50's
Yeo 22 goals, Average 21 disposals, 4 clearances and 4 inside 50's
Duggan 4 goals, average 18 disposals, 4 tackles and 3.5 inside 50's
I dont think we will have anyone averaging over 28 disposals a game like last season but we will have a spread of mids getting 25 plus disposals a game.
