Ties are fine. Bow-ties, however, stunt conversations.
They are almost hypnotic.

I'm very interested to hear the circumstances of the Redden trade, given that he presumably has no links to WA other than Yeo.

Did we sound him out initially, or did he come to us?

It's a fairly unique coup for the club because we've seldom attracted interstate players and seem to rarely target contracted players.

BOND 007 anything you're able to say?

Anyway, really like this trade. Should give us a good succession plan to Priddis, as well as some more size in the midfield.
It's a crude way of looking at it, but adding Redden's contested ball winning and tackling pressure to the 22 should help offset Jetta's deficiencies in that area (assuming we pick him up).

Welcome to the new WC. Still wearing conservative pants but in the latest shirt and top. Still a way to go but they're heading in the right direction and you can thank Simpson for this leap to modern thinking.

Good quality playing group, good quality modern coach, good facilities (well sort of) and really good potential in the next 3 years - is a very easy sell.

I think they are starting to find a good balance - hopefully it moves with the times and doesn't go too heavily one way or the other.

Like Gold Coast (and others) a couple of years back trying to load up on picks again and finding out they have no decent experienced guys outside of Ablett.

Or Geelong of recent times, possibly over estimating their squad (in my opinion) and trading in experience like it's going out of fashion.

Geez it's about time isn't it. Funny that so many Supporters as well as commentators were pointing out that West Coast too conservative of a club and all it takes is Simmo to come in.

On paper Geelong looks really good. Great midfield and solid down back importantly and up forward.

North are the ones who are overestimating their squad. Too many B graders on every line.

A bad case of keeping the window open. Very few clubs would be willing to move sooner towards accepting they won't win a premiership in the near future when they've had such recent successes.

TBF the board did hire Simpson over Sumich in the first place. Hiring decisions are always the first thing to start with when beginning a culture change.

Don't think Sumich would have been a disaster per say but doubt he'd have got us into a GF already.

Redden is by no means a mug,but as I've said before I think he gets a lot of wraps based more on his stats than his impact on a game. His positives are that he does get decent amounts of the ball and gets high tackle numbers. On the flip side of that, he tends to get a lot of tackles because he can be hesitant to go for the ball I think. His ball use for the most part I would say is about average, sometimes iffy, a lot of his short to medium kicks tend to land short of the man leading I find. Can be far too hesitant to make a decision with the ball in hand aswell which can be frustrating when you're trying to move the ball quickly. Not a guy that you go "Remember when Redden had that great game against _?" Not bad, a C+\B- player.

Honest question: has their even been an occasion where Terry Wallace has made a big call ahead of time that actually turned out right?

I can honestly say there are few 'serious' football people who's opinion I rate lower then Terry Wallace.
With deledio and rambling we got the best two players in the draft ........

Oh wait
