To clarify, GWS wanted 23, we are offering 40.Channel 7 Adelaide news saying Crows have offered pick 40, that's it. Or PSD I presume.
I think you have an eye on the dogs pick 12 so are being careful as to which second rounder you give up.thought this would be a fast deal to get done, sure is taking its time
I don't think the PSD needs to be visited. I also don't think the club needs to part with pick 23 to get the trade done.
Who knows what either club think is a reasonable trade.
Suspect GWS would be more focussed on Caldwell and Carmeron atm
Pretty sure I didn't consider or try and measure GWS's happiness in trading Hately. Nor did I mention pick 40Considering that GWS are asking for a 1st rounder for Caldwell you might want to do a comparison between Caldwell & Hately and see why they might be asking for that but for some reason happy to let hately go for a pick #40+

Pick 23 is fair value.
I reckon fair value is higher. He was pick 14 with two years development in and seems to be tracking well. Problem with the current AFL system is fair value is rarely achieved especially when it comes to players out of their rookie contract. In this scenario GWS should be able to match a contract offer and make him stay, or trade him on their terms to whoever they like. Unfortunately under current rules they have lost all leverage and are really at our mercy when it comes to an agreement. The one tool they would have is to refuse to trade for unders and let him walk, but in this case we just take him for free in the PSD. I reckon it ends up being pick 33 and FWIW I think the system is BS even though we benefit this time.
Hopefully 40.No Pick 33 left. What get's this done now?
Maybe they got that second for hatley?Hopefully 40.
Otherwise 23 for Hately & 44.
Good question. No Pick 33 left. What get's this done now?
If you've seen Hately's kicking you wouldn't have to ask that question.Considering that GWS are asking for a 1st rounder for Caldwell you might want to do a comparison between Caldwell & Hately and see why they might be asking for that but for some reason happy to let hately go for a pick #40+

LOLWhat’s wrong with his kicking?
LOL
A Port supporter....almost any player in the AFL is an improvement on Ollie Wines who went at 53.7% KE and 69% DE this year compared to Hately who sits comfortably at 80.9%KE and 79.3%DE.

I respect your opinion but that won't change mine re Ollie Wines' kicking, he's a ball burner even if it was better this season than past seasons.ollies kicking was great this season. If you’re going off stats I don’t think they reflect what he did this year at all. Was definitely his best season by foot by some margin.
I’m not really worried about hately’s kicking. He lacks touch and I don’t think he’s a good kick which is worrying considering I’ve seen him with plenty of time and space to use it (so I don’t think it’s improving at afl level) but it’s not a concern for me at all. Hately is what he is and that’s a workhorse running mid with size and the ability to win his own ball. Fully expect him to have a very good career. I don’t think Caldwell has outperform hately at this stage but I like caldwells ability to impact the game much more going forward and I think Caldwell likely matures into the better player which isn’t a knock on hately at all.
I mean if you look at it without using your brain at all.Aren’t GWS asking Essendon for something pretty substantial for Caldwell I.e a first? Hately and Caldwells trade worth would be identical no?

Crows have pick 1 in the PSD. Nothing stopping him from walking there for free. These teams seem to get on though so it wont get to that.
Why? Don't need to. If the shoe was on the other foot I bet the AFL media would be saying GWS should only give up a third rounder.yep that’s reasonable. It would still be in fairly poor taste to not at least cough up a second rounder though.
