reckon he will be fine & flourish at some stage. He's 21 ffs... Whitfield has always been skinny... Burton, Kane Johnson early days. Glandular fever not helping, plus the hub life distractions / lack of motivation. Now he's got motivation and a point to prove, and the kid has class & big game results. Wouldve been nice to keep him and JDG, as JDG should spend more time in midfield, and Stevo the perfect replacement for him up forward... though we do have Elliott, Ruscoe & Reef, and maybe even a Cook to come in, so quite stacked in this medium forward position.
I didn’t mean it in a pessimistic or judgemental fashion. 21 year olds aren’t necessarily going to prioritise their career, particularly if it’s coming easy. I’m just disappointed it took a club forcing him out for him to want to engage the extra help. If they buy in had come earlier it may have been a less talented teammate that was considered expendable. From a CFC perspective the whole lot is a tragic waste. :(

your order is wrong... GC at 5, so wont get one of the talls.

I was referring to the North pick 2 for GC pick 5 plus trade that is getting whispered about.

That explains my ordering.

Collingwood lost control of the situation with the Grundy contract, compounded by the Moore contract, then further compounded by the DeGoey re-signing.

I reckon they decided to feed Treloar in to the shredder when they couldn't compress the numbers any further, and Treloar seized up the blades by claiming he wasn't going to budge.

It was then that Jaidyn's name mysteriously appeared from the "next" file.

Collingwood then further lost control of the situation when Trteloar wouldn't budge until very late in the piece. They had to trigger their back up plan. If Treloar had amicably moved on early in the trade period, then I reckon Jaidyn would still be a Collingwood player. The fact the Treloar domino played out so late meant Collingwood had to move on Jaidyn anyway. They completely lost control of the situation.

"O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive!"

As you claim, North were in a position to enter late with the old rope a dope tactic, after the other suitable contenders had punched themselves out of contention early in the draft, and North made off with a certified bargain.

Brady Rawlings has rewritten the rules of the draft game.

1) Play the long game.
2) Keep your team tight and their mouths shut.

You think Brady Rawlings is the first person to think of those tactics you mentioned?

You do realise that Stevo was told well before trade week he was out the door due to his attitude and off field dramas.

Personally think he and Zurhaar will kick ass for North.

Nice little duo.
Stevo, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Zurhaar and Logan McDonald would be a potentially amazing group. Throw in Simpkin, Larkey and Thomas and they have some proper young talent.

Yep. He wasn’t listening though. It took a phone call to Bucks to check if they were serious.

He got under a few clubs guards this year mate.

Corr was stitched up before anyone could blink, he got under the Dogs guard with Lachie Young, and his long game nabbed Jaidyn & Atu after the others had punched themselves out.

North didn't lose a single player that they weren't prepared to let go.

Brown shot himself in the foot, and Higgo nabbed North a mid 2nd round pick for a bloke with 30-40 games left in him. It's a fair effort.

If this GC trade of pick 2 for GC pick 5, 27, 37 & 2021 1st round comes through, then he's had a pretty good year.

It was found out mid 2019.
I don’t remember it ever working consistently tbh that’s just the most egregious example of it failing that sticks to my mind.

We were very good in clearances in 2018. Everyone knew where Grundy was going to hit it - teams overcommitted to the ball drop trying to get first dibs, if they got the ball it was too congested for them to do anything and if the ball got into space we had the advantage becasue we hadn't fully committed.

Why quietly extend for five years after a double hammy then?

Extending is a common salary cap strategy.

Presumably the plan was to lower his wage in the first few years to fit into the TPP, and backload his salary for later years and kick the can down the road on the assumption that they will worry about the cap after they have won a flag and everything will magically fix itself

Oddly enough we were missing our best clearance player Treloar for a large chunk on 2018.

Stevo has showed literally 0 ability to play anything other than deep forward so far. He could possibly play on a wing, but his disposal and composure isn't great for someone so weak in the contest.
Would personally keep him deep, where he is super damaging.

That was his likely trajectory; never showed much when given time on a wing at the 'pies though.

There was plenty of competition for midfield spots at Collingwood.

Anyway, we'll know soon enough.

Ability isn’t the issue, attitude is.

Also Bucks obsession with players being Able go play more than one role/position.

He was terrible when out on the wing this year, worried about contact, fumbling. Out of the goal square he’s great. But he may never be able to bulk up enough to play wing or midfield.

He wasn’t great in th forward line this year. So I don’t read anything into this year.
