Time trials and match fitness are two different things.

Jayden clearly has a great deal of talent and some attributes that will make us a far better side. I’ll back the match committee in selecting him for round 1, but IMO a bit premature...would have preferred to see him earn his spot in the 2’s first. Tends to get caught and make poor decisions at times, these things can be worked through in the VFL.

IF he shows that then he back in the VFL in RD 3 and 4 when Elliot,Fas and Wells come back into the Side

Stephenson’s endurance is as good, or arguably better than many senior players going by his time trials, so I’m not so sure he’ll struggle that early.
Middle distance running isn't a great guide to endurance for our game IMO, say you had 2 clones with the exact same fitness levels only you taught one how to run, that one would beat the other by half a lap, and not all players know how to run middle distance.

I don't expect Jaido to start the season flying (despite his legspeed)

He will do a few impressive things here and there but won't exactly be a ball magnet. Just hope he gets a sustained run in the side and then he will truly show us something special in the years to come.

Haven't been this excited about a player since Grundy. I know the club feels the same too.

I just have a good feeling about this bloke. He wasn’t my first choice on draft night, but I’m really warming up to him. He’s in my SuperCoach team- that’s how much I like him. He could be anything. There’s no ceiling.

He will be a good long term player but needs some heavy gym sessions over the next 3 years.

Personally I will be very interested to see how his and Darcy Fogarty careers pan out, read on EBnW Fogarty was an option they were also consideringbut I think 3-4th inline.

Powerful Big bull Utility vs speedster mid/fwd will be interesting.

It’s not that I didn’t like him, but I PREFERRED D.Fogarty. I can’t keep crying over spilt milk. I completely see the praise for Stephenson. He does have quality’s we need, so I’m happy. Hopefully he shines!

I was the same as you Chrs really wanted the Fog, btw Fogarty starred in his debut JLT so don't feel you need to walk away from it mate, he will be a gun and likely impact much earlier due to having a big body.

Stephenson also should pan out to be a very good pick up and address that speed/xfactor need we have, so think we have done well regardless.

Yup, I still see the Fog turning out to be the best player in the draft! I saw his JLT game, and I cried a bit(a lot), But very stoked with Stephenson.

IMO, Stephenson either turns out to be like Whitfield or Fyfe. All depends on how much size he can put on and how good is overhead marking is.

I fully expect him to go through a shallower impact period whilst he is adjusting to the rigors of AFL football, both physically and mentally - and for a youngster even emotionally.

BUT . . . .

FMD he has potential !!!

So I dare say you watch him Tonight and IF he does well you will tells us how badly the Club Stuffed Up

Not sure what people's expectations are for Stephenson's first game, but Paddy Dow's efforts last night should be a check upon too much enthusiasm: 11 disposals at 27% efficiency. It wasn't an overly physical game last night, but the ball pinged around at a rapid clip and young Paddy seemed somewhat lost amongst it all.

Looking forward to Stephenson's run, but certainly not expecting a big impact.

Totally correct, realistic expectations are the order of the day. Ability and skill set doesn't translate in to star for a little while. He needs to find his feet at this level first.
Hoping for a goal and 15 odd disposals, a couple of tackles and perhaps a goal assist or two. That would be a fantastic effort for a young first gamer.

I doubt people will come to conclusions after one game.

Agreed. Paddy looked like a turd that will never be polished.
