If you think that's bad, you should check out the Carlisle thread on the Essendon board. Despite my best efforts they seem to have universally convinced themselves that if he nominates us, we are "dreaming" and I repeat, "dreaming" to think that we'll get Carlisle for any less than pick 5 STRAIGHT OUT!

Carlisle is not a better footballer right now than Hendo, I'd say their respective bests represent a remarkably similar proposition. Funnily enough, we haven't seen their respective bests for a while either. However, I would concede that Jake probably has higher upside. But in terms of trade value? Very close.

Then you factor in WADA and the fact he has walked out on the club...and you guys are demanding pick 5. It's comical. You doped him up, pissed him off and now he's going to walk for way unders. Just like we will probably end up with unders for Hendo.

And this doesn't even take into account that it would be basically negligent for rebuilding clubs like Carlton or St Kilda to use a top 5 pick on him. He's simply not worth it to us, even without WADA looming. He's talented, sure but he's really had one good season, then been incredibly inconsistent. No club could be sure they are getting 'good' Jake, certainly not sure enough to burn a top 5 pick.

Jake would be awesome for saint kilda though, I could see them paying pick 5 to ensure they can get him if there's a bidding war.

If it comes down to "just" Carlton I can see Essendon getting reamed unfortunately

I just don't see the Saints buring pick 5 on him, too much risk, too many questions. They would have to be pretty concerned about the quality of players otherwise available at 5.

I will say this though, it's only clubs like Carlton and Saints who will be generally willing to take a punt on the WADA issue because he ain't going to make much difference to us next year.

Anyhoo, if the Saints want to hand over pick 5, good luck to them I suppose. I agree, he could be good for them.

Not to mention the fact that there would have to be questionmarks on his character/mental toughness after his outbursts and so-on in recent weeks. The rest of their list has generally managed to see this difficult period out without carrying like he has of late, so it does raise the question of how he handles pressure and difficult situations. You'd want to be giving him a pretty thorough psych test.

I think it's a risk that most clubs would be willing to wear based on his talent and his age. It could make a difference to his trade value, but if there are still many clubs interested, then who knows
