Surely if clubs are only offering a second round pick for Jake then this would bring North back in and open the door for the Hawks and others. Why would the Blues and Saints leave the door open for more to join the party?

Jake's Manager: Now listen Jake, StKilda and Carlton are offering you 700K x 4 years, but North or the Hawks are offering EFC a 6 spot better Draft Pick.....so Jake, how would you like accepting their 550K x 4 year contract instead?

Jake: Are you trolling me dude?

North Docks offer to 350k and makes Essendon pay half

If he nominates us I fully expect that we'll offer more than our 2nd rounder, because we won't want to **** around and have it drag on all trade period.

Then why the **** do you continue to whinge about Essendon supporters asking for the ONE thing worth more than your second round pick both here and on the Saints board?

You're better than this

spot on ARR

we have been very reasonable at the trade table to date and look for win/wins. we are not about to absolutely ram one home on essendon and start talking the PSD like carlton have

Saunders and Curren are worthy additions to our 2nd.

lol look at this guy being wrong.

Two spuds and an okay pick for a bloke you're offering 700k for.

Except I'm not.

Lol wrong again. The money has almost no relevance to his trade value. All it does is demonstrate what we are willing to pay from our cap to get him to nominate the Saints. It's essentially a payment payed to the player to reduce their cost in draft picks.

E: Also I was only offering 1 spud and a draft pick for Carlisle. Look how wrong you were again. Nice try through.

I'm better than this? What about you? You do realise that by the time trade period comes around we'll have a whole lot of other options available to us, on top of the ones we have right now (eg. Ross and our 2nd rounder, Hickey and our 2nd rounder, which are both more than just our 2nd rounder, if I'm not greatly mistaken), such as our 2nd rounder this year and our 2nd rounder next year, or we might be able to do a trade with a club like Sydney (who need points for Mills) for their 1st rounder, which we could then offer up for Carlisle.

Thinking that the only thing we'll have to offer that equates to more than our 2nd rounder is pick 5 is mindboggling! Come on man, lift.

IF Jake chooses the Saints, i still think Saints offer the Dockers Pick 5 and maybe a later Pick for Wellar and their 1st Pick(18-20). Saints would then offer that 18-20 for Carlisle.

The incentive for Freo to do that trade is to have Pick 5 to give GWS for McCarthy.

Richo has said that Jake "could" be worth a 1st Rounder to the Saints List Profile build, but not #5.

I'll start by saying I reckon he's not gonna land us much more than you're suggesting but it's a payment for his services. He is a footballer. You are paying him to play football. You are paying him that amount based on his ability to play football. Not to choose your club. That's one of the more hilarious things I've read on the topic.

Why would you pay so much money for someone you are only willing to part with a spud and an okay draft pick then?

Okay, when Billings comes OOC we'll offer him 700k, when he nominates us we'll offer our 3rd pick and Nick Kommer. Sound fair?

God you whinge a lot. You used to be a good poster.

So you don't think the amount of money you offer to a player can influence which club they choose to play for?

Do you deny that a player nominating a single club decreases the price their nominated club will pay for them in a trade?

Can you not see the link between those two facts?

It's not about fairness. It's about reality. Look at what you got for Ryder. Look at what the Lions got for all their first round pick players that left.

I see you avoided the first part. So I'm right, again.

That's not anything to do with what I said though. You said it's the price you're willing to pay to get him to nominate the Saints and reduce what it will cost in terms of picks to get him to the club. I'm quite positive it's actually what you're willing to pay him to play football.

If he's worth a lot in salary, he's worth a lot to your club and they just may give up something good to get him.

Aren't you whinging about what I've been saying? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

There is a hell of a difference between offering up our first rounder (pick 5 at the moment), as I was arguing about on the Essendon board, and something like two 2nd rounders, which would be the equivalent of around pick 14 (around what I reckon is a fair trade for Jake) and what I expect we'll offer.

If you don't see the difference there, between pick 5 and pick 14ish, I'm not sure what to say.

It's expressing disappointment from me.

Two 2nd round picks aren't worth the same as a first round pick. Baffling statement. Would take 14 over 25 and 30 every day of the week.

Carlisle is a gun KPD and settles the St. Kilda spine for a long time. Your club obviously rate him if they're offering 700k. You only offer that to players worth a top 10 pick, which you have.
