Was thinking the same thing during the game, took some huge marks during the game and saved our a$$ a couple times when carlton looked like they were getting on a bit of a run.
Shame all this rubbish has come out and put a downer on the best game from Jake the snake since he came to the saints!

If they get around him as a club we will look completely stupid. Jake seems like a nice guy who may not be the smartest person of all time. We are getting bagged for not giving a full apology. This is one war we cant win. Having a go at a women isn't the smartest thing to do.

Would guarantee that Warner would be subjected to worse than Murphy has(his wife now being the mother of his children so more cause for angst). He is probably not so soft about it though.

What has any of that got to do with what was said by our players. And I don't think it would be common at all.
 
When I was in college the girls used to go nuts in preparation for Carlton's Mad Monday down at Naughtons Hotel. They'd start primping and preening at lunchtime!

All in the pursuit of "bagging a footballer".

The whole "wife is off limits" has a bizarre element of sexism to it - that women are somehow weaker and need to be protected from nasty comments.

That being said, these things are what we can take away from this;

- What was said was pretty rank.
- Murphy is a hypocrite for being happy to sledge but complaining about being sledged in return.
- Carlton controlled the narrative brilliantly.
- The assembled 'big' football media are utter trash merchants.
- Lyon, Carey and a few others are obviously oblivious to irony.
- Jake is a freaking idiot for liking Rors' tweet.
- 'Winning' clubs (Hawthorn, etc.) will always get out of these things far better than the minnows.
- Footy tribalism still absolutely exists.

Let's all move on. Big game next week!

If a female hockey player had sledged another female hockey player something along the lines of "your husband has a huge penis, Karen said he used it like a pro" would that be a sledge against the husband or a way to get under the skin of an opposition player?

Can confirm that some pretty foul things were directed at some of our blokes in regards to old scandals.... Not an excuse, but just sayin.

Carlisle used information about her as a tool to attack him. Does not in and off itself mean it was an attack on her. Nice to see you completely dodged my hockey hypothetical above.

FWIW, 9 of them (33%) were won before and including 1910, 15 (55%) before 1950, 18 (67%) before 1960, and 25 (93%) before 1990.

You know, when you could still BUY the league and the rich clubs treated it like a private playpen...

Since the AFL era began, we've won 2 of them, and the Baggers have won 4.

Interestingly, since the national competition came in, and we moved towards a more level playing field here's the 'spoons ladder':

The only reason Brisbane tops the ladder is due to the 1995/96 double they get from Fitzroy.

EDIT: their supporters will no doubt counter with the fact that they won the 1995 flag as well...

To that I say; true, which is coincidently around the time you were fined twice for cheating the salary cap (1993, 1994). Seems legit.
