Aish is a good player that's clearly at odds with his current club/environment.

I think he's got a lot more to offer than O'Rourke who was a pick #2 and is now at Hawthorn but O'Rourke's advantage is that he'll get the better shot at development at a club that has that department under control.

The guy is a bottom-ager, one has to remember. Will play the year out as a 19 y.o. Plenty of time on his side.

I don't know that a pick 20 bid on Hipwood is that controversial. In most non-BF write-ups, he's in that 15-20 range already.
It's a good point, How are Lions going to secure Keays and Hipwood with the new bidding system?

Aish pick, Leuy pick could possibly get it done, if you have to go into debt can that be done on future picks?

That can indeed be done on future picks. I've done the calculations before on bids of 14 and 15 (from Twomey's post-championship rankings) with the Lions' original picks, disregarding anything that may be received for Aish and/or Leuenberger, and we'd only need the addition of pick 52 or better during trade period not to go into debt next year. Alternatively we can take the equivalent of pick 52 off our first round pick next year, which could bump us back one to four spots.

So I might be getting this wrong but are you saying you would use your 2nd round pick (potentially pick 20, 912 points) plus pick 52 (246 points) to secure Hipwood if he was bid on at pick 15 (1112 points)? if so I agree that this would secure him

How do you secure Keays though?

No, if Keays is bid on at pick 14 and then Hipwood is bid on at 15 (or vice versa), the Lions could give up picks 20, 38 and 56 across the two and only have a points debt of about 231 points, i.e. approximately pick 53. So all they need to do (assuming the rest of this hypothetical plays out) would be to obtain pick 53 or better during trade week and they won't have to go into debt in 2016. Alternatively they could have those points removed from their first rounder in 2016, knocking them back one to four spots in the first round, depending on where they finish.

Pick 14 on Keays = 1,141 - 20% = 913 points - 912 points for pick 20 = 1 point, and we're done.
Pick 15 on Hipwood = 1,112 - 20% = 890 points - 465 points for pick 38 = 425 points - 194 points for pick 56 = 231 point debt as they have no more picks worth anything to give up.

I normally keep mine on a keyring hanging up on the wall at home...

I think Aish will be a very good, consistent player. I don't think he'll ever become an elite player though. He reminds me of a Marc Murphy type.
All Australian and MVP Marc Murphy?

I've done some stalking...

On Facebook Aish likes the Adelaide Football Club and the Richmond Football Club, but not the Brisbane Football Club.

Aish to Adelaide/Richmond confirmed??

Shared custody?

What if the Hawks offered, David Hale, Brendan Whitecross and our first pick ( say 16-18 ), for Aish and your Leuenberger compo pick ( say 25-35 ).
