OP Nailed it, and it was my OP, Aish going place, and he'll be coming back to Vic.
The biggest idiot is not in this thread, it's your coach, Leppa. Not going anywhere. Fancy saying that Leppa of all people saying that. What a plonker.

I would like to know what you thought about your list manager/recruiting manager Hine declaring a 5pm Friday deadline and then quickly going back on his word to get a deal done. That was hilarious, even with a club statement and letters to members. How cute.

While I don't think it was Derek Hine specifically who sent out the email, I'd call it a great move either way. Brisbane immediately caved and added Jack Crisp to the mix. Remember him? 22 possessions, 5 tackles, 4 clearances and just under a goal a game for us this year. Don't pretend you wouldn't trade James Aish for Crisp right now if you could, he'd be the best 21 year old on your list.:)

I'm not sure he's in our best 4 this year, but he's certainly in the conversation. That's fine though, his performance might not be to everyone's taste I guess.

I take it then you're pleased with the performance of your players this year? You fielded a pretty young team on the weekend, nearly as young as Collingwood.:)

What's his value? Would Richmond's 1st and 2nd picks (~ 14 + 32) for Aish and Brisbane's 2nd (~ 20) be fair? Or unders?

14 would be right on the money, I don't think you'll he getting anything back.

FWIW I'd be rapt for the Saints to give up pick 5 for Aish and Brisbanes 2nd rounder, although I'm told Brisbane need that pick for academy.

Brisbane will need it's 2nd and 3rd round picks for academy selections minimum. They wont be traded unless a pick around equal points value comes back. In saying that, getting a pick 10-20 range for Aish should be enough to loosen up our 3rd round pick. Assuming we then dont use that pick in a trade for someone like Dixon of course.

Yep. We certainly caved. Pick 5 and 25 and Crisp.

So, basically, Pies got Pick 5 and 2 x C-Graders in return for a superstar of the competition who was still in contract o_O

I'll take the A-Grader every time thanks :thumbsu:

A bloke who came second in a top 4 team's best and fairest is a C-grader? You Brisbane fans are more deluded than I thought.

A grade level: Ablett, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Beams, Selwood, Kennedy etc. etc.
B grade level: Cunnington, Redden, Gibbs, Vince, Armitage, Shuey etc. etc.
C grade level: Rischitelli, Crisp, Stanton, Grigg, Greenwood, MacKay etc. etc.

Nothing wrong with C-Graders...they are vital to structures, they're just not match winners.

Rischitelli is above Redden in my eyes.

edit: Actually as I think about it, I'd say Redden is closer to C Grade himself.

I reckon we'd be willing to take that and try and scrounge up another 2nd round pick from somewhere if that was on offer. Maybe a 3rd round or 4th round back from you guys just for some points towards the academy and then see what else we could muster.

redden is having a down year but he is definently a b grader when he is playing anywhere near his best, same could be said about rischitelli

Welcome to last night. It is clear the Aish is either headed to Collingwood or Carlton. It is split 50/50 on where he ends up according to media reports and anonymous sources.

Could have saved the headaches last year and just put him in the Beams trade

My thoughts exactly. Pickers visited his parents in SA that week so i think it could of been on the cards.

Im not annoyed aish is leaving or if he nominates collingwood. Im more pissed at who blocked him getting there last trade period. Could of been pick 5 and aish for beams and smiles all round.

As a club labelled with a "retention issue" and "full of kids who wanted to bail" we probably didnt see it in our best interests to ship off a first year kid we spent pick 7 on. In hindsight, yeah, we should have just punted him. But we had to back ourselves in to keep a talented and possibly homesick kid, and I think it was the clubs correct decision.

All this talk of "He was good in his first, but hes seconds shit, so hes not worth more then 17-18" is a bit of a cope out. Take a kid like Gooey. Hes had a good first year. If he requested a trade, Collingwood would demand a top 10 pick. What say he goes next year and cops a few injuries, bit of second year blues. Suddenly hes worth 17-20?
