Has played 49 games in 3 years which says to me he is highly rated, but was an unused sub in 3 out of 4 finals in 2021, which may have left a sour taste in the mouth after that.

I think he will be at Melbourne for the long term.

Why wasn't he brought on late? Seems petty to not find a way to use the sub especially in the GF. I was happy to see Parfitt brought on last year for Geelong..

Would be a regular in a half the league sides one would think

Because it was against the rules back then, medical sub.

James Harmes said he was cramping up and said he’d come off for him. But was knocked back as he wasn’t injured. I guess they didn’t want to flaunt the rules in a winning grand final.

Honestly. If a player said he was off... I cant see any AFL official saying you must stay on... Gees one of the guys could go down and say he had done knee and came off ..

Its probably something we are nogt used to.... before the interchange their were probably plenty of reserves not used..

You’d think they’d have found a way to get him on. Just followed the rules I guess. Feel for JJ.

I actually reckon he'd be a very good pick up for North.
Sadly the end is in sight for Cunners, and Greenwood won't be that far behind him.
A good young defensive mid who will have had 5 years development in an elite system would definitely help our team and the system Clarko is trying to develop.
If we rotated him between a defensive mid role and defensive forward role, he'd easily make our best 22 all year long.

Or he could just be the next rory atkins for the suns. Not sure its a great pick for them.

Doubt it. He wouldn't get such a long (stupid) deal to start with. He's no certainty to make a huge step up but if he's recruited as a reliable role player (defensive mid/wing), it'd be a good get as a FA.

Haha don’t be so sure, it’ll be 5 over 5 to get him up there

Like everyone else, Hewitt has gone backwards in '23.
Docherty is no mid, Ed Curnow is finished, Hewitt not looking great, no two way runners at all.
We could do a lot worse than to ask the question.
