Carlton's midfield is too good. They'll sort their form out and JJ would go back to being 6th choice. Essendon would have been the natural contender, but they look ok now with Caldwell and Setterfield taking those workman like roles. North and GC are always the "ah, send him that way" teams but both are good in the midfield.

He's a good player, but he's also pretty dime-a-dozen given he's got no real polish or flair.

He is a better winger than Baker (although he's having a decent year) so could head to the Dogs.

Sydney would also be an option. There's a fair few underwhelming guys running through that midfield at the moment.

If I'm him, I'd look to go to West Coast with Hunt. Two guys with limited shelf life at teams trying to contend, but both of them are heart and soul types with decent attributes.

Think you're very wrong about Carlton. They have the worst wing rotation in the comp and are leaning on Curnow and Docherty as midfield rotations. A guy like Jordan who has a big engine who can play as a defensive mid or lock down a wing rotation would be huge for them.

Greenwood and Shiels have been doing a lot of the defensive mid work for us lately.

I would be surprised if either are still around for longer than next year.

Our current wing rotations are mostly: Shiels, Ford, Scott. Likewise there's opportunity there.

In terms of defensive forwards, we're relying on Phoenix Spicer right now for goodness sake.

So I reckon there's a clear career pathway for JJ at North: Start 40/40/20 fwd/wing/inside mid, gradually progressing to more inside mid time as Shiels and Greenwood are phased out.

He could potentially take the opposite wing to Acres, but their on-ball brigade still contains five players - Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Kennedy, Hewett - who are superior to JJ. Regardless, Carlton need polish, not grunt. Jordon is a hell of a competitor, but he can't kick. Opposition teams last year used to tag Langdon and give JJ whatever time he wanted, secure in the knowledge that most of his kicks would go 45 metres to nobody.

I think he's every bit as good as Greenwood and Shiels as they currently are, but the issue is that they're in the door and he's not. Unless Powell, Thomas and maybe Phillips are being written off; surely there's no room for another inside mid as these guys get older? I don't think JJ could do a defensive forward role, but Bailey Laurie can't get a gig in Melbourne's misfiring forward line and would probably be a more realistic/high-yield target unless he breaks through.

Sydney is a good shout. A lack of depth in that midfield for sure.

Eagles too of course as they need players all over the park.

The other thing with JJ is whoever recruits him needs to settle on his best position. He is a decent defensive-minded inside mid but also decent on the wing.

Yeah North makes a ton of sense. Just to get another solid AFL standard player onto the list and figure out where he fits in later down the track.

GWS have often grabbed these types and turned them into handy defensive forwards before

Yeah reasonable point about them needing skill but I'd argue they need players who cover the ground well and can tackle more. Kennedy and Cripps may not be able to coexist in the same midfield given how poor they both spread from the contest.

That being said I rated Jordan's disposal as more adequate then poor but you watch him more then me so perhaps he is too much of a liability by foot.

He'd be a very good fit at the Blues who need to improve their run and the depth in their best 22.

There will be plenty of other clubs interested though, knowing that they don't have to give up a draft pick. Not a lot to lose, he's shown a bit.

I was discussing James with a Melbourne mate of mine at the King’s Birthday game yesterday.

He’s a 6 or 7/10 at about everything you’d expect from a midfielder. Not great at anything, not dreadful at anything.

In a team at the upper end he’s a 25–30 on the list like he is at Melbourne.

He could be a 15-20 on the list player at a team with a weaker list.

I agree with the posts above that he’d be a good flexible player to plug into a team that doesn’t want to throw its younger players to the wolves while they develop.

But for a team looking to move up in the short term he won’t be the guy that makes that happen.

We've just dropped Baker and are trying Poulter this week so if Jordan does have wing potential we could well look at him

I suspect we’d be quite keen.
I hope so. I'd prefer him to Henry. Seems the perfect age to add to our list too.

I don’t know Jordon is an upgrade on anything the Bulldogs already have.

He was very good in the VFL yesterday, 40 touches and a goal.

But that was playing as a proper midfielder.

He won’t get a game as a proper mid with the Bulldogs.

He’s not damaging enough as a wing or flanker IMO.

dogs are playing scott in that role atm, imo jordan would be a upgrade while being backup for the mid group. bonts had a killer year but they may want to play him up forward more next year like what the pies did with penders (hb)

Don't blame him, he just wants a regular game and will definitely get it at another club.

I guess we may get a third rounder as compensation, maybe
