I've seriously had enough of this crap. Sicily and Butler laid great tackles. The AFL/MRO has lots it's ******* mind over punishing outcomes instead of actions and intent.

Suitcase got rag-dolled and the impacts/angles seem to have been exacerbated by the third player being in the mix. None of that constitutes a reportable offence on Sic's part. Hope Suitcase recovers fast, but... it's a rough game.

There's was nothing wrong with the tackle. Hugh has one arm free to brace for impact. He doesn't because he tripped
Utter nonsense. If you have ever tackled someone, or trained in wrestling, judo or similar you would know how much control Sicily had over McLuggage and chose to exert. If Sicily doesn't understand that the way he tackled would result in McLuggage's head being smashed into the ground he shouldn't be allowed to play. It was a truly vile act.

I have a black belt in jujitsu. What you just said is utter nonsense.

Similar to bump. Elect to take the action and all duty of care is yours.

In this case he pulls clug down. Players have largely adjusted to roll the opponent onto themselves. Or just stand in the tackle.

Sicily drags him down and rotates him to the ground.
3 weeks seems stiff. Thought 2.
But wasn't getting off.
So you are happy to eradicate every element of excitement from the game? You chose to take that spectacular mark but kneed the player in the head at the same time. 3 weeks. Learn your lesson and don't do it again.

Given the ridiculous emphasis on outcome, can a teammate be suspended for recklessly kneeing a bloke in the head and concussing him in a marking contest? Say an unrealistic attempt? Why not? Reckless. Potential for injury. Severe impact.

No. Because believe it or not there's no rules against infringing your team mates.

Wait till they start banning players for falcons "carelessly booted the ball into that guy's head, causing a concussion".

Smothers will have to go too.

Keep em, in not the one crying that oh the AFL is dead it'll be touch footy was wah

So, if Isaac Heeney goes the speccy next week and knees an opponent in the head concussing him, should he be suspended? Given the head is sacrosanct and all?

If not, why not?

Excellent hypothetical. Where is Geoffrey Robertson when you need him?

When do you release the tackle?

This stuff happens in games. But let's not pretend a player in that situation doesn't know what he is doing. He made a bad decision and a decent suspension will hopefully stop him making the same one again.

So tackling is a bad decision? I can see Wardlaw missing big chunks of his future playing days.

Nah you'll be busy furiously touching yourself.

Watch lawn bowls or tiddlywinks instead if you hate footy that much.

If you're so great at tackling you should apply to be Hawthorn's tackling coach, apparently they train it three times a week but still can't get it right

Yes it was a good tackle and was awarded as holding the ball despite Coleman pushing Sicily, or do you forget that?
