Wow! I sometimes get embarrassed by North supporters melting over nothing, but you guys are next level: Ban the tackle, Touch football, What about..., All he did was....,What would Wardlaw do?

Nice to see the thread’s resident trolls in here with their ‘contributions.’

Let’s see how quickly they backflip when it’s one of their players.
Unfortunately it is these flowers that the AFL is appeasing

Given the ridiculous emphasis on outcome, can a teammate be suspended for recklessly kneeing a bloke in the head and concussing him in a marking contest? Say an unrealistic attempt? Why not? Reckless. Potential for injury. Severe impact.

You can knee someone in the back of the head and kill them so maybe the AFL should look at this? 🤔

So you are happy to eradicate every element of excitement from the game? You chose to take that spectacular mark but kneed the player in the head at the same time. 3 weeks. Learn your lesson and don't do it again.
the mark with the knee in the head is probably next but we digress.

to your question - wouldn't say happy or angry. just know what the AFL are trying to do so you adjust accordingly

case in point - in our gameday thread this week, we all saw the Merrett tackle and immediately thought that's risking a week off.
It's AFL now. And if they have to suspect Sicily for 3 to change 9/10 tackles and avoid 90% of concussions, that's a win for the league and the players. and we suck it up...cos we're not the ones out there getting smashed and having CTE later in our lives

First point of contact, Sicily grabs Mcluggages left arm

He let's go once the tackle is complete and goes to get up.

You have trouble with direction? Comprehension?

Not sure what you just answered but that is not the answer to my question. You just made a factual observation but didn't answer my question. Try again.

Sicily DID let go of his arm you should maybe watch it again? Or maybe not because we know you're just trolling now.
You said Sicily let go of his arm

I showed footage where he does not let go of the arm
Do i need to put it in a power ranking for you so you can comprehend it

The long term answer is players become independent contractors and must carry their own insurance to play. You wanna get paid big money to play? Accept the risk and carry the insurance. No insurance, no play.

This typically ham-fisted, after-the-fact “crackdown” from the AFL is just embarrassing. Trying to eliminate risk from their contact sport by punishing the participants. Dickheads.

Are you a Gil lover? are you pleased with the way the game is going? turn it up there is no justification for that BS.

Glad you showed it again- albeit in ultra slow mo rather than real time.

Do you see how Sicily pulls McCluggage onto himself (as instructed for safety) such that his initial landing is onto Sicily. He then rolls him off himself and onto the ground. Not only is he going to ground from the height of Sicily lying on the ground (i.e. very low) that but the angle he is rolled onto the ground would normally mean he lands on his side.

It's only the impact of Brockman mid fall that means McCluggage's head is on a weird angle that means his head hits the ground (unpredictably and unbeknownst to Sicily), causing the concussion.

Which is exactly what the Biomechanics expert said.

You can join Maddo in the "I hate the AFL crowd, I want touch footy"

if im a player, its the second you're both going to ground.
The biomechanist said the whole tackle lasted 1.04 seconds. So in that time he was meant to tackle, recognise that they were both going to ground and release the tackle

Gil and his overpaid corrupt league can shove it. They have destroyed the game, it is a farce and fk them.
I am going back to grass roots footy, where they run on a sniff of an oily rag because of the AFL Muppets, they suck and the game now sucks!
I've started going to the VFLW.
No AFL interference. Pretty much every other league is under the AFLs influence in metro melbourne

Given the tackle lasted for an ACTUAL second, you didn't really answer the question when Sicily should release the tackle.

Sicily goes to ground 0.2 to 0.3 seconds after initiating the tackle. So you're telling me that as soon as Sicily tackles that he should release a tackle as soon as he realises that he's touching the ground, as fast as you can blink? Do you realise how long it takes for your nervous system to send signals from your feet to your brain and then for your synapses to fire to your parietal lobe?

The bolded makes me ask if you've even seen the tackle in question?

Just stand in the tackle? He was far away, Sicily was off balance, was pushed by Coleman and lunged to make the tackle. Sicily wasn't standing in the first place.

Your other suggestion was roll the opponent onto yourself. That's exactly what Sicily did and was his effort to roll him this way that caused the motion in the first place. In fact, McCluggage's primary landing was his bottom landing right on Sicily's chest. Sicily even used it in his defense - that they have been taught to roll them onto themselves - which is exactly what happened.
the stand comment was for how tackles are adjusting, not for Sicily.
If you watch now, most tacklers will either hold the player up and not go to ground, or if they do they get under and bring the player down on top of them

i thought this would be 1-2 for a recklessly executed tackle.
Because he lunges, he has very little control of Clug in the tackle.
Because he's low, his weight creates the force.
And because he (rightly i might add) rolls him, but isn't in control of Clug, he effectively slings him into the ground.
3 is stiff and suspect there's a Sicily tax in there.

Like the bump, the tackle onus is now on the tackler to make sure it's executed perfectly and no undesirable head contact is initiated.

Keep your eyes on the ball kids but make sure you only hurt your own teammates in the process. What next? Ban pack marks from taking place on the field? This slippery slope is heading towards basketball.
Spot on.

I am glad Butler got off, so they are saying it's ok to tackle from behind for the moment, until we don't like it anymore.

The AFL is the worst governed game on the planet run by greedy dickheads that overpay themselves whilst the grass roots footy has no coin.

They are assholes and have destroyed the game.
