Not everyone can be a superstar. What I love about Pets is that he tries his heart out to be the best AFL footballer can be, and has the skills to keep him well above the fringe scrubber.

I'd take him over a talented but lazy Vince type any day of the week. Like Gets! said, he bleeds blue red and gold, which is terrific in a side that has had 5 players seek 'greener' pastures in the last four years.

I'd like to see him in a run with role over the season, really challenge him to stay in the game and build his tank, given that Vince, VB, Porplyzia, Douglas, Knights are all injured or in doubt. Start with Josh '15 votes' Kennedy this week :thumbsu:

Would rather Matty Wright pick up Kennedy. Petrenko to stay as a defensive half forward where he has been effective.

How good was Petrenko's tackle last night? cant remember who on but one of the best I have seen

Thought his game vs Port was fantastic...

Last nights was better.... Interested to hear if Vader is finally ready to concede defeat and find someone else to have a go at

There's just one thing that continues to shit me about him and that's his lack of an opposite side.

I know it's not going to change, but it annoys the hell out of me.

Other than that, play on.

If he wants to be the complete footballer, he needs to work on this.

It's weird I've actually seen him hit a few sublime left foot passes into the forward line whilst running down the left wing (to walker I think).

He must revert back to instinct when not given time and space. This can only be changed by a ridiculous amount of practice I think, so as long as he is continuing to work on it, I'm not so fussed, pretty happy with his game at present.

Took two marks inside fifty at crucial times...and converted when the swans were threatning to run over the top of us. 3 goals and 3 goal assists, with some crucial tackles thrown in. BIG reason why we won that game IMO

Tackle on Malceski? Much preferred Walker's tackle on LRT though. I wonder what Craigy was thinking of the tackle if he was watching the game last night. :D. Didn't see Vader there in costume, did anyone else? ;)

This. He appears to be pretty comfortable hitting the opposite foot while running in straight lines, but isn't comfortable working the angles on the left. Limits his abilities as a small forward, confidence or ability?

I can't remember seeing him kick with his left but have to say his kicking on the outside of of his right is remarkably accurate, perhaps this is part of the reason why he prefers to take this option so often instead.

I imagine he was patting himself on the back for sticking to his guns re: Walker. A guy with his fitness levels should be able to make those kinds of tackles late in the game when everyone else is tired. Walker's pressuring has been passable-to-good for the last twelve months which is a massive improvement on his career before then.

Of course it's impossible to know how things might have worked out if he'd been handled differently but I personally believe that he's become a useful player defensively entirely because of how he was handled by Craig. The failing of Craig was not putting him in a position where his offensive strengths could be fully utilised, which Sando has done and we're reaping the benefits :thumbsu:

Yeah doesn't seem to have confidence in his left-foot snap, and seems to opt for the right foot banana instead. I'd be encouraging him to take a bit of time, straighten up and kick a drop punt in those situations. He's more than capable of burning off opponents.

I think you are right stabby,Craigs biggest downfall was his attempts to change players positions.

Or look for other options - when he took that first embarrassing outside of the foot snap, he had Dangerfield free right in front of him who would've been able to snap on the right foot. The decision making was lacking here...

Just an observation on Petrenko and his left side. When he has time, he'll use his left and use it reasonably well, but under pressure he can't get balanced so uses the outside of his right foot. If you're not naturally balanced on both sides it's difficult to get it right as to which feet you use to run and balance on the intended side. Similar to doing a left handed layup in basketball, you need to mirror which feet you take steps with for your two steps to get the balance right to use your left hand. I'm rubbish at it so just use my right but it's not as important as a left footed kick in footy.

Last night made it 2 very good games in a row. Major props to him for becoming a consistent player this season. :thumbsu:

I'm not sure that 2 very good games in a row equals consistency.. but he definitely had a very good game last night. Pity about that lack of a left foot, but he more than made up for those bloopers with some outstanding play at other times.

And plenty of people posting in the Reilly thread from the other side of the fence having no issue sticking their hands up for underestimating Radar..

Come on Vader.. get it done now before you start.. err.. continue to look foolish ;)
