You're offering him 3.5 Mil and you think us asking for a 1st round pick is "high demands" ? If a player finally says yes to going to North you'll give up what ever it takes to get them.
No, we won't. And again, we don't have to. If he says yes to us, then we have the upper hand, we decide what we think is fair for you get in return. And if you don't like it, it's tough t***ies for Port because we can get him in the draft and you get zero.

So do you, hello Carlton, hello St Kilda. Wont slip past them. You will give up your first, if he says yes you wont miss out on him at the trade table because you let him walk.

How did that work out for Mebl with Lever ? They gave up 2 firsts, difference is there weren't clubs that would have picked him up on the money Mebl are giving him. Carlton or StKilda will take Polec.

If he nominates us, other clubs won't pick him, because he would have committed to us. It's how it works. Been done before.

Wouldn't make sense for other clubs to pick him when he doesn't want to play there, stupid move.

It's $3 mill over 5 compared with $1.5 million over 3.

The a $500K difference on an overall p.a. basis.

No thats not how it works, if you go into the draft anyone willing to match the terms you agree to can pick you up, he isn't a free agent.

he doesnt "want to play for North" he wants to stay, if he leaves it is because the $$$ is to good to say no. If Carlton or StKilda pick him up he gets the only thing he is leaving for. This isn't a player leaving one club because they are desperate to play for another or leave.

Then why haven't they put in bids?

Just because they haven't made it public doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Out of curiosity, what other outside midfielders do you guys have on your list? Obviously none as highly productive Polec.

Nothing worth of AFL games. There Amon (who i never want to see playing AFL, unless its for another club against us. No good) There Dom Barry who left Melbourne moved back to the NT for a bit and was drafted from the SANFL, he's god great pace and endurance but cant kick. And thats it.

Willum Drew has played a bit outside mid last year but has been injured this year and is more an inside Mid prospect and maybe Bonner could become a great wingman but doesn't have the contested game that Polec does.

Frankly, I don't really want him, not for the money being suggested. Would rather spend it on a better player. But if this process results in financial pain for Port, then I hope it carries on.

You may not want him but it’s obvious your club does

Also your psd claims are moronic

North want him bad. They aren’t going to **** around

North have been chasing heaps of players. Do you think they really want to show these guys they won’t do deals at the trade table? You think that is a good look to other future prospects?

Saints are keen and probably a few other teams. You think north are the only team who can afford him?

If it comes to psd you don’t think Polec will sign on with port?

If it comes to psd you don’t think saints could talk him into signing with them for the same amount but less front loaded? Of course they could.

Your psd claims are stupid and baseless.

Agreed. National Draft is much more likely if he wants to come to North.
Still, on the current draft order, I suspect Carlton would nab him with one of their second round picks.
I highly doubt it would come to that though. Port will likely up their offer and he will stay.

Baseless, right. Except for all the previous examples where players have got to their club of choice through the PSD.

Baseless.
A big no no for North. Don't be so stupid to even think they'll try the PSD. If this is how North is recruiting players no player will ever choose them. They have a hard enough time competing with 8 other Vic teams and can't get their guy even when overpaying.

Because you not wanting somehow means that he'll go to the draft. What logic. Even if he did a few other Vic teams want him and two happen to be ahead of North - Blues and Saints.

Then they are idiots. Port are not in a position to be making such high demands.
The situation is simple: If Port doesn't want to offer him enough to keep him, then they lose him, he walks to the draft, we sign him up for the terms we've put in front of him, and Port gets nothing. We are not obligated to give Port anything. It's up to Port to satisfy him, and if they can't, they shouldn't be up in arms because they had their chance.
Are you for real ???

North will pay what Port want and pray that Port throw some chips back your way
The threat of PSD is extremely rare and only happens once a decade and if you think Polec will come via the draft you living in la la land

It will be the value of a pick #10-#15

Then why haven't they put in bids?
Because they are not willing to pay a pick in the top #10 -#15 for Polec but if he enters the draft they pick him up for nothing but $$$
Carlton,Gold Coast , Brisbane , St Kilda , Doggie's do you really think that Polec will risk going to Queensland ??
North have to pay what Port demand if they wont after whispering sweet nothings in his ear then not doing the trade will be a big black mark on players even considering going to north - If he does come to north it will be a 1st rounder

You must have been sent a copy of the agreement as everything i have read has mentioned $3,500,000

Doubt the queensland scenario is at all likely as he already ran out on brisbane so i suspect both the QLD clubs would not be going near him with a 40 foot barge pole so to speak. And if say carlton, the dogs or st kilda did stump up to take him he gets his once in a lifetime deal and north can just take their pick to the draft so it won't have cost them anything more than just time and effort

North clearly want him and i highly doubt they would be thinking we get him for a late pick, When you offer $750k you get the deal done and its that simple
The fallout from courting a player and leaving him hanging will be huge and players and managers wont take kindly to this type of thing and will want assurances from north that they will get it done and no psd

Everything you've read is wrong. The initial number was leaked and inflated by Port. It's all about perception. The perception they want is that Port were priced out of the deal so their hands were tied. The reality is they only have 3 years on the table and they assumed a SA boy would accept a lowish offer. They botched the recent recruitment's by paying them overs leaving them in a bit of a bind. With 750k being thrown around and continually brought up by Kane Cornes the Port supporters don't kick up a fuss and everyone is happy. Marketing 101.

North have offered 600k x 5 years. Take that to the bank because Polec will be barring something catastrophic getting in the way of him making it there.

You have no idea what north or port are offering. Get your head out of it. No one here does
