Reckon that'll come back to bite them in the ass for the foreseeable future.

It would, which is why it wouldn't happen. 'Bag of chips or PSD!' is classic BigFooty. If North did as I suggested instead of trading in good faith (an early to mid teens pick for Polec is about fair enough) then it would impact their trading relationships going forward.

Looking at it with zero emotional attachment, they apparently have squillions of free money and are in a bit of a rebuild phase. If you could add Polec and retain pick 12ish it would be a big win.

Though they did **** us over with Ben Jacobs...

No emotional attachment, that explains why you jumped into this thread as soon as you could.

Worry about your franchise, while north people will worry about their club.

After majorly shitting the bed on Gaff, North are going to be in full Lachie Weller mode on this one- they simply have to get the deal done because after talking big they will look like massive off field failures if they can't land at least one (not very) big fish.

Which puts port in an amazing position. In the circumstances port should just say your first rounder, no ifs buts or late draft compensation and sit back and watch them scramble.

So you’re telling me there’s still a chance Polec won’t get done?

They are going to get our pick 10 for Polec, they were before Gaff and nothing has changed in that regard.

interesting if we do move on Mayes, might not have 2 thirds left. although hombsch, amon and neade look like moving. could drag a bit.
although port would want to pull the trigger as we have bigger plans with pick 10.
so maybe if we can quickly flip one of the above 3, we might just hand north the 2 3rds.

We can just send Amon to North. He can replace Gaff.

Some not so bright decisions made a year ago if it made them hard up on cap space.

I don’t think it made us hard up on cap space

We have Hartlett dbj Houston lienert broadbent and bonner on our backline. That’s well stocked and after pittards year letting him go and developing younger players in his place is the way to go.

Glad to get a 4th for points next year we have a couple of f/s coming.

Disappointed that we couldn’t get more from Polec though. He will be one of norths top few highest paid players and the biggest target they could land. If that’s the price for players of his caliber then fine, as long as teams are happy to accept ports first rounder and only a first rounder for their players when the time comes. Reality tells me they won’t.

Teams should be very worried about port raiding them next year. We just cleared a bunch of cap and Ryder comes off his big deal next year. We’re going to have some cash to splash next year.

Yeah no. We apparently had 2nd lowest spend this year.
Still better to clear cap space than not. Gives us more opportunity and Pittard was garbage this year.

The future is Houston who is so underrated, DBJ, Bonner and then Broadbent as experience who will be back from injury now.

Pittard to clear space to use on someone else isn’t bad.
