So much potential in this signing....
It could turn out horrible and Brisbane like.
Best scenario is if North pick up 2 players who can't get games at bottom 6 clubs for their "premiership window".
Is that how you see the Mitch Clark situation? Geelong going all out?North are going all out.
Got to respect it.
Calling it now, North are falling into the trap of overrating their list thinking they are premiership contenders next season. Their prelim showed they are a mile off the best, they are overrating their chances based on beating an average Essendon team and catching Geelong on the decline.
North will miss the flag window in the next 2 years and the Waite and Higgins signings will just be expensive wastes.
The beauty of free agency is you can do this without compromising picks or development. We have plenty of young talent on our list and will add another first rounder this year.
Hawthorn have shown that developing your own and filling holes with experience aren't mutually exclusive. We are well placed short and long term.
But will all of your "older" higher paying players signed on for next year, there maybe a bit of a squeeze from somewhere.
North did just commit close to $800k to 2 new players for next year.
I get that you didn't have to give up draft picks, but with FA, you pay more.
No way Waite would have been offered more than $300k by Carlton for next year and there is no chance the Dogs would even contemplate giving Higgins $400k next year.
Pretty sure we had to pump some funds into contracts just to make minimum cap payments for this year, and that was with front loading contracts. We should be alright. But will all of your "older" higher paying players signed on for next year, there maybe a bit of a squeeze from somewhere.

Do you not think list management staff do the sums years in advance?
I am also surprised that people readily dismiss the media, but as soon as they report contract figures everyone jumps on like it's gospel.
