Looks like from the video that was posted on our social media pages that he plays a little bit Mark Blicavs from Geelong.

If he can develop in someone like him then boy o boy.

I'm hoping him to be a tall Stuart Dew. 12 touches per game with all of them being kicks that break a zone or goals from 55.
Oh let's hope!!!. During those glory years of the early 2000's I used to go to games for to see two things:
1. Wonder what new way Tredrea was going to tear his opponent a new arseh*le...
2. To watch Stewart Dew kick. Even watching him warm up he just seemed to have that extra 15 metres no other player could match. To watch him consistently kick a goal post high from 60 metres out or constantly watch the opposition defenders misjudge the length he would get on his kicks just made us a much better team offensively. Even with 5 clear kicks a game it was a joy to behold.

Lade was a decent kick in the day too. I remember a 2007 bomb against Fremantle that stuck it to 'em. Hope he gets in his ear and warns him to steer clear of Mc Donald's and hot chicks :p

"Carries his right leg solely for ceremonial purposes"! We miss you Dennis!!!

Ladey was a great kick, everytime he got the ball I would say for him to have a shot no matter where he was on the ground (jokingly of course).

The second Showdown is a game that showed me what a kick he had on him. It was either the first or third quarter (yes we had the breeze) and he kicked a huge goal.

As for Dewy, great leg but the kick that stands out for me is the first Showdown in 2005. He kicked the ball 60 and it bounced another 10-15 before going out of bounds and the ump called him for deliberate. Was it? Most likely yes, but there were other instances of a ball not travelling anywhere near that far and not being called that were just as deliberate.

I would like others opinion on this too, because it appears to me that there is nowhere near the amount of long kicks there used to be in the afl. I remember the 90's through to 2000's and it seems like guys don't kick as long as they used to. Fewer big kicks and even those don't compare.

Just me or there is really a huge difference ?

Long kicks mean longer flight time meaning easier for defenders to intercept mark.

and the short time we had dew on one Half forward flank and fabian franics on the other HFF was a thing of beauty. anywhere near 65mtrs out was a scoring option

Still a weapon though. Watching highlights from 2004 (too much time on my hands) the amount of times defenders would get caught to far under the ball was unbelievable. Key forwards would know Dewey's kicking ability and would be waiting out the back to take the mark and run into an open goal. It was a thing a beauty!!!

I have a horrible feeling he might be referring to the Point Break remake.

If he's from Murray Bridge he just saw the original on Betamax (I lived in MB for 10 years so I'm qualified to comment ;))

Good kid. Have been wanting him to be drafted for years but was constantly overlooked, probably due to his lack of defensive pressure but he's a thumping leg, strong mark and a difficult matchup with his size and loves to run and attack. Definitely worth a shot, should make it.

This bloke is shades of Noel Pettingill with his big booming kick and a tall relatively skinny frame.

Still remember that massive kick he did first year of play at Footy Park, he was a couple metres behind the centre half back line of the centre square, ( which was 45m then not 50m) more towards the members ie left hand side of the square southern end, and he torped it and it bounced twice and went out of bounds about 5m round from the right hand point post northern end. He played mainly for Norwood but spent his last 3 seasons at Sturt.

Pettingill could definitely give the ball a tonk, but he was about as hard at it as Nathan Lonie. ;)

He kicked one of the longest goals I have ever seen though, it was at the parade in round 1 1972, against the Maggies.
He took the kick from about halfway along the member's stand brick wall, and it went through post high at the RSL end.
I used to work with a VP of the deadlegs who told me the kick was measured later at more than 75 metres.

Pettingill finished with 6 goals for the day, his best ever, and by plenty.

Interestingly his opponent for that game, was none other than Eddie Woloszek.

By round 2 at Alberton the natives on the outer mound were becoming a tad restless that Eddie was a dud, and he was very quickly given the nickname, Eddie Wetcheck.

I remember when they used to have a longest kick comp at the Adelaide Show. The huge kicks that stick in my mind are Pettingill & Dean Ottens.
Can't remember much more about Pettingill - hopefully Jarrod has more than a big kick; But he has got a fantastic kick on him by the looks.

At 195cm and 98kg he's more Bernie Quinlan than Noel Pettingill.
Where did you get 98kgs from? from malcolm's post #12 of this thread.

Nickname: Lieno
Date Of Birth: 05/08/1994
Height: 195cm Weight: 88kg
Junior Club: Murray Bridge Imperials
Previous Club: Raukkan Swans
....

His previous club would be Imperials.

He may have played a game or 2 for Raukkan Swans, although I doubt it. In any case, I believe they only play in a yearly carnival comprising indigenous players.

As for player comparison, Im thinking he may be a taller version of Clayton Lamb - has height, but not a true kpp, but a forward or back flanker/wingman, who can kick a long goal.
