Opinion Jarryd Lyons - Are midfielders supposed to take this long?

Lyons didn't even make the list?!

I don't know what time frame they use to arrive at those ranking points but as of right now there is no way that reflects the order imo.

This reflects my bias towards Brad Crouch but if I had to pick them one by one to play on my team as midfielders my current order would be

1. Sloane
2. B Crouch
3. Lyons
4. M Crouch
5. Thompson
6. Douglas

I think the balance of our side would look better by removing someone on this list and replacing them with some who can run, carry, kick better.
MacKay?

I'd go:
  1. Sloane
  2. B. Crouch
  3. M. Crouch
  4. Lyons
  5. Thompson
  6. Atkins
  7. Douglas
  8. Mackay
  9. Van Berlo
Didn't rank AFL mids who haven't played this year. Knight excluded due to injury.

I was only ranking inside mids…and i don't rate Mackay in that role at all.

If you want him in, just add him to the bottom of all the other names on the list.

EDIT: Just re-read it, you may have suggested Mackay as the run and carry player. I think after 150 odd games we've seen his ceiling and it's not good enough.

I haven't included the wingmen but I like that you've added Atkins as I think he should be part of the inner midfield conversation. Be hard to know where to rank him right now without much opportunity but I think he could rocket up the charts.

Now obviously the better players would play a higher % of midfield time while others would rotate flanks more often but how's this for a couple of balanced midfield line-ups to roll through (with Thompson out 'rested'). 1 x inside/outside gun, 1 x clearance machine, 1 x skilful kicker:

A) Sloane, M Crouch, Atkins
B) B Crouch, Lyons, Wigg

Would keep the obvious focus on ball-winning but add a crucial element of skill in clearing the ball. Love to see the Crouches winning the hard ball, then releasing our precision left footers to cut the opposition apart.

That was exactly what I was suggesting but it was just a friendly troll....I don't rate MacKay either:dizzy:

Imagine how highly he'd be ranked if his first 25 of the 40 weren't as sub

And that's not even 40 games, it's taken with a 2 year time frame and he's only played 30 games since then (at least 9 as starting sub). He has moved up almost 200 positions since the beginning of the year. Can see him pushing into top 100 players if continues getting games next year, which he should.

I still find it unbelieveable that it has taken this long for him to get a decent go at it.
Had only been doing it in the sanfl for 4 years
Surely after he kicked 4 goals against the Pies at the MCG all those years ago, that they would have thought we should stick with him for a few more games.
Great to see him doing well now

The sub was a horrible rule.

40 games is way too long!

40 games ago Dougie was playing for a decent contract and Thommo was running out more than the first 5 games of the season.

I dunno, season and a half / season and two-thirds sounds about right to me.

Long term Milera for Thommo

Not for Lyons. Darth has been known to post that if not for the sub rule, Lyons wouldn't have played anywhere near as many games and it actually kept his career going. Lucky bugger.

Did I get them all?
