My gut feel is that it will get done, I think traditionally we've traded in pretty good faith, and are happy to compensate what we need to.

But in the event it doesn't get over the line, because Norths demands were just too high, (3 x firsts or equivalent) I'll be disappointed, but understanding.

It seems atm though, particularly from the supporters, that Port needs to "bleed" and lose a young star as well. In fact I get the feeling that a lot of them would prefer we lose someone of value and them get less compensation, rather than keeping our young core and them getting better compensated.

Thankfully I don't believe Rawlings would have this mindset, and would just wanna see North get the most they can. I hope at least anyway.

Brisbane are doing the absolute right thing when they say here is the deal take it or leave it and we will go about our business in the meantime.
They really aren't.

They don't have leverage. They can only get Dunkley if they trade.

In reality it was insane they promised Dunkley they'd get him given their draft situation.

I really don’t understand some of these trade evaluations. IF (and it’s a very big if) we manage to get pick 2 from WCE, that would be a straight swap for JHF in my opinion. Anything extra would be overs quite frankly. He was valued at pick 1, he’s now valued at pick 2 as he’s publicly unhappy and wants to leave.

Exactly.

JHF was pick 1. He didn't show a huge amount this year - which doesn't mean he won't become a star, it just means his value remains mostly potential. The currency of potential is draft picks. You can get a player with equally as much potential with pick 2. That's why it's a fair trade.

As an example, if Chris Judd wanted to be traded after his first year, that would've been different. He validated his potential as pick 3 to such a high degree in his first year that his worth went beyond potential into 'this guy is 100% going to be a star'. That makes him worth more than any single pick and demands a premium at the trade table.

Disagree. That uses the same logic as saying a player that has slid in value is the value of whatever their original draft pick. If you believe JHF is generational talent, or better than anyone in this year's draft, as an example, then giving more than pick 2 for him isn't necessarily "overs". Open market, what's it worth to you.

I thought this when he nominated them. It was always going to be very difficult to get done. A trade to us was much more realistic. It will happen in the end though because bulldogs will bend over rather than take nothing.

Yeah I am done too. You won’t change any one’s mind and when you sit back and realise nothing you say will alter the outcome it’s not worth the effort. There are crows posters with genuine mental illnesses in there too. Good luck to them and I imagine if it gets done that I will go back and have a little chat then.
Most definitely some 'Tin Foil Hat' merchants on the N.M thread.
They have it their heads that Port Adelaide and David Koch have colluded with JHF and his management to play within himself so we get him at a lesser trade price 🙄

9 news reporting that Port, North and West Coast will sit down over the weekend to work on the 3 way deal. So don't expect anything tomorrow.

The Rankine deal is being held up by swaps of 4th round picks. I mean seriously? Just do pick 5 and move on.

It's all so farcical.

Same 9 news that said Bonner has met with north Melbourne

Common sense doesn't exist over there, its more or less become a vent thread for North supporters and by extension oppo supporters in general who have an axe to grind with port.

Every second post is either factually wrong, or misleading, or just downright delusional.

I had to stop lurking, my brain was hurting.

I just drop in, correct them, and then run before I have to read their replies. Lol.

The way WC are playing it, I can’t see how we’re gonna get Pick 2 without giving a significant player (Houston, Georgiades etc.)

I think there is still more chance of us getting it done by dealing directly with north

But if you give them what they want next time it will be more. They want 2 first round picks - its excessive. If Dunkley wanted to come to us they would have asked for 7 and our future first.

So when Bulldogs traded Josh Schache in who was a Pick 2 in a more valuable position they paid Brisbane Pick 25 & 40.

I know you'll say he's a spud but that wasn't known at that stage.

Id be expecting to see JHF at some
auctions at Henley Beach tomorrow.

Talk of sending a primo player to westcoast for pick 2 is so pointless, if we were going to send a primo player when they dont want to leave why wouldn't we just send Houston and the relevant picks to North and fck West Coast and their stupid games.

When the first round picks were 16 after FS and next years 15-18, they're barely even 1st rounders. And Brisbane still wanted a host of 2nd and 3rd rounders back after giving them.

Our 8 obviously would've been closer to the mark because it at least gives WB a low pick that's fair. So 2 x speculative last first rounders aren't really excessive. I mean we probably wouldn't even do our 8 for 15 + 15-18.

Brisbane are the ones being unreasonable though, when they have zero leverage. They have now gone down to 21 +future 1st. So i totally understand the Dogs position and would be surprised if they don't push him to the PSD. Dunkley would be nervous as hell.
