We would have him doing a "tell all" morning breakfast show interview or possibly 500k exclusive current affair interview spelling out exactly what North Melbourne is then having him take next year off on stress leave.

Deal will get done over the weekend.

It seems atm though, particularly from the supporters, that Port needs to "bleed" and lose a young star as well. In fact I get the feeling that a lot of them would prefer we lose someone of value and them get less compensation, rather than keeping our young core and them getting better compensated.

This is exactly it. They are hurt and they feel like a fair trade is for us to hurt too and that should not and very likely is not the focus of the actual club. From their perspective, they would do well to stop focussing on our short game and start focussing on their long game. Pinching one of our 2nd tier potential guns, like Georgiadis or Bergmann or one of our better first 22 players won't take them where they need to get to. They should be looking to get some real quality through the door. It's ironic that they want to pinch one of a Butters (pick 12), Duursma (18) or Houston (45) when they could take the picks and do the equivalent of what Port did to get all of those players in the first place.

I'm not forgetting but riolis name should not be bandied about with top end picks and generational stars, he is a second round pick that we can pick up in the psd. If we are giving up 2 top 5 picks and a player like Houston for the two players mentioned I feel like that a solid loss on our behalf.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the general sentiment here is that we couldn't really care less if Junior came or not.

If it means we pay less for JHF then great, bundle him up.
But otherwise, involving WCE is just a head-fk for a player we could do without.

WCE simultaneously don't want junior and want overs for him..... I think we should move on.

I truly believe the most north will ever get for JHF is this trade period. Would be to be very stubborn not to do a trade.

They're already looking back and asking themselves why didn't they accept Adelaide's original offer last year.

My gut feel is that it will get done, I think traditionally we've traded in pretty good faith, and are happy to compensate what we need to.

But in the event it doesn't get over the line, because Norths demands were just too high, (3 x firsts or equivalent) I'll be disappointed, but understanding.

But if you give them what they want next time it will be more. They want 2 first round picks - its excessive. If Dunkley wanted to come to us they would have asked for 7 and our future first.

So when Bulldogs traded Josh Schache in who was a Pick 2 in a more valuable position they paid Brisbane Pick 25 & 40.

I know you'll say he's a spud but that wasn't known at that stage.

It was well and truly known that Schache was a spud when the Bulldogs traded for him. I think they hoped a change of scenery might help him reveal some of his junior talent.

The trade will get done. A pick 1 in his first 12 months doesn’t burn bridges like this simply to be welcomed back. Also its basically agreed to in principal already, with later picks back and forth being finalised.

Like others have said, this is the highest profile trade since the trade period became a commodity for the AFL and you’re insane to think they won’t milk every last drop out of it.

Honestly am surprised we haven't heard about SPP yet. From a WA perspective.
