I think Sean Darcy is a better ruckman than Jackson. I like Darcy's ruckwork better than Jackson.

And I don't think Jackson is a damaging forward at all.

So to summarise I have no idea why Fremantle are going for him unless they are trading out Darcy. Even then it is a down grade.

Be prepared to not have any meaningful draft picks for a few years.
You realise the word "few" means at least 3 right?

This year and next year is 2.

Plus like I have said before, if we want a stronger draft hand in the next 2 years, then we will get it via trading.

So where we arrive at the end of trade week draft wise really, is irrelevant.

As long as we get value from the results.

Jackson is as good a ruck prospect as there’s ever been. But…. He’s still a ruckman.

Should Fremantle be paying him 1mill a year especially when they have a Darcy (who is also a gun)? I’d say no.

That money is for gun mids or key forwards.

Hunter Clark denied move to North, contracted one more year.

If North were going to keep JHF we’d already know by now don’t you think?.

I must admit the idea that Darcy, Jackson, Gawn and Grundy are only going to be spread over two clubs next year is a bit silly.

I'm all aboard the get JHF train, but I do feel this is a concern.

Our list is pretty poor at the moment. I feel like we have a lot of gaps. We're at a time when we really need to inject a number of quality players into our system. Not just one. We just need to hope the one we're going for becomes so damn good he takes everyone along with him. If he does that then we'll be fine.

We'll clearly need to be a big player in the FA market in the next few years though. Not much showing up on the radar though for 2023 FA's. Maybe only Ben McKay, Fiorini, Hopper (Pending this year).

The below is fascinating though, Bonner is set to be in our top 10 paid players next year! Suddenly his trade out makes even more sense. Wonder if there's complications around who wants to pay that much for him, and/or whether we wear some of his salary. He certainly shouldn't be in our top 10 paid players.

Talking about 2023 FA’s, we should start targeting Ben McKay early next year to try and lure him over.

We 100% will be overpaying for him and unless he changes history and becomes a 5-6x AA and a premiership player then it will always be an overpayment.

There arent many pick 1s that you’d pay this price for, let alone an unproven 19yo. Happy to do it, but history says it will always be an over payment
You over pay to get a young pick 1, either in $$$ or picks or maybe both, if you prize them out early.

GWS paid $1m/year x 5 years to sign Tom Scully after 2 seasons in the system, they didn't have to trade for as he was an uncontracted player. Scully played 122 mostly uninspiring games for GWS.

WB paid $1m/year x 7 years and pick 6 + a past his best Ryan Griffen for Tom Boyd after 1 year in the system. He played 52 games in 5 seasons, WB didn't have to pay him the last 2 years as he retired, and he literally won the 2016 PF and GF for the Bulldogs.

We aren't offering JHF the big $$$ so if we overpay, its in picks. If he plays 200-250 games only gets 2 AA's, no flags have we really overpaid that much?? I will take a marginal 10%-15% over payment if he plays very good footy for the club for a dozen years.

One thing Jason will need to get used to is playing in front of a crowd - he wouldn't be used to that :).
That may come down to what the sack Ken or we dont renew people do.

Kochie much more tight-lipped on the trade this time around. Do you think this is because he copped it for being too cocky in his last interview or is there anything to read between the lines here?

FFS why do people bring this trash to this thread.

Rowey many years ago reckoned that Eddie McGuire rang the umpires department. McGuire sued him and AA and they settled out of court.

Someones a bit upset:

Now I somehow want to build Jimmy into the mega trade that gets JHF here. (or GC pick 5 received from Adelaide), that would be a strawberry on top.
