Port - Needed to bring in players without losing any of their ownI admit I didn't think a 4, 5, 6 club mega trade would work. Too many moving parts, too much club selfishness.
Then we had a perfect storm of clubs with specific needs who all saw wins for themselves from the trade.
The AFL even did us a favour by denying our moving out two future picks. The other clubs threw picks at us to make sure the deal would be accepted.
Still think Port and North played it beautifully when they said they would meet Monday afternoon to discuss an isolated trade. The other clubs didn't want to miss out and sorted it before then.
West Coast - Chose to focus invest effort in local talent
GWS - Like the other clubs from non-traditional football states understand trading is just doing business.
North - Got forced into requiring a hard reset due to the fallout of the last few seasons.
