They probably had players prepared to go to North. In a two horse race, they were a shoe in. Worse, because they committed to Rankine, they couldn’t drive up JHF’s price, meaning we got a pretty good deal.

I bet it was only after the Cows declared for Rankine that we were able tell JHF that if he nominated us, we were in a position to make the trade.

Even on what should be their proudest day, the Cows must be looking at their list managers and asking, “How did you guys let JHF get away?”.

And Rankine has only signed or three years.

Yep what Norf don't realise is that 17 clubs laugh at them.

The only supporters currently siding with them are Wet Toast who are temporarily angry about Rioli and will have forgotten Norf even exists by the time the 2023 season starts, and the Camries who are only siding with them because of their deranged obsessional jealousy about anything Port-related.

In a few years people in the media will be talking about how great it is that JHF will go through his career as a one club player at Port and his long pre-season at Norf will be entirely forgotten.

Yes we have him for six years, but he has signed a five year deal not starting until 2024.
Next year he has to complete his originla two year draft deal.
One rumour was 5 x $800K = $4M

The only problem with Watts is he was stuck with the North Melbourne of that era for too long, I mean just look at how they managed Jack Trengove. Give Watts a club that wasn’t an embarrassment on and off the field early enough in his career and he would have come good. We’ve managed to pick up JHF early enough that he’ll go much better than he would at North.
