He has had a fractured preseason, which plays a significant part. He also looks to have added a few extra kilos to his weight, which combined with his lack of a preseason, had him looking quite sluggish at times. Understandable. He has another for weeks of conditioning to go before rnd 1, so I suspect we will see a different player emerge by then.

Even so, everyone should lower their expectations for this season as he comes to grips with his body, the new team, and the different game style. We know the media will be all over every move the kid makes, and will smash him accordingly .. lets not join them.
Lol hows that wxcuse giving away 2 50m penalties for arguing with ump?

Had major surgery on both legs doesn't set the track on fire in what's basically a training session delist dud.

It is a trial game. You trial everything. Even arguing with an umpire.

Just watching the replay now - he didn't give away the second 50. He was nowhere near an umpire, and wasn't getting in the way trying to man the mark. It was likely against Houston for scuffling with Jackson after he'd given JHF a shove.

I'm coming round to Horne-Francis being more like Dangerfield than Buckley.

He doesn't have Dangerfield's quickness but is pretty good but does have the acceleration but Horne-Francis has a really quick footy brain and have a great kick on him.

I had him starting in the Centre but am thinking he should ease off and play up forward and play some time in the mid until his body is good to go.

With the 2 50 meter penalties, I may be remembering wrong but I thought that only one of the penalties was because of him and Dan Houston caused the other?

Obviously for me JHF he physically looks like Buckley, that photo above shows it, similar size and body shape, and the socks up look is just absolute perfection!

But for me he's the best quality junior I've seen in the SANFL, since Buckley. Drawing comparisons on pure ability totally unrelated to looks and style. Only difference is Buckley's SANFL exploits came at a older age.

To top it off though he's been drafted number 1, gone to a shit side and gotten out to come home, in almost identical circumstances to Buckley who desperately wanted to get to Collingwood from Brisbane.
