Speaking on Channel 9’s Footy Classified, Cornes believes it’s further reflection of the Roos’ poor management of Horne-Francis.
“I’ve been strong on the fact that he was set up to fail and that they didn’t support him enough,” Cornes said.
“This is the management of their most talented player since Wayne Carey and they wonder why he‘s no longer at the club.
“I think the theory was to get him with someone in the same generation ... clearly it failed along with a number of other things. Jason himself didn’t handle things perfectly, but it’s one they’ll probably live to regret.”

Between Boomer and Taryn, they sure hooked him up with some first rate mentoring: Rumour - Boomer done goofed

Don't worry, my mates and I were the same. But after watching Butch kick his six goals in that game I actually felt like there might be light at the end of the tunnel. I recall we were about six goals down by quarter time and, although we still lost, I think we actually won the last three quarters. After what we had witnessed in previous weeks that in itself was something of a miracle. :sadv1:
yeah i reckon it was 10 goals zip at quarter time, after losing the previous 2 games by a combined total of 303 points.

It was weird, in those early days Butch was a dead eye but at no point did i ever feel confident in his kicking. And not even John Butcher himself was, it was like it was a surprise they kept going through. His body durability was always a concern for me too.

I liked him and wanted him to succeed so much but i never truly believed he was "The Future".

My concern with kane’s commentary around the Horne Francis thing is that it is heaping more pressure on him to “come good” and have no excuses after leaving north. I have total faith that he will be a star but if it takes him a bit of time to get there, even after surgery the scrutiny will be immense.

The bonus is half the NM supporter base will implode if he kills it this year

Good interview, sounds like a good, sensible kid and he knows what he needs to work on to improve. I know a lot want us to lose games so we see the end of Ken asap, but I would love to see him have a good game on Saturday and get his first win in Port colours.

He clearly has had some media training since his first interview at the club with Davies
He had only just had Boomer Harvey surgically removed from his back so was still struggling a bit at that stage.
