His fitness is still clearly lacking a little with his surgery and interrupted pre season. Factor in that hes playing big midfield minutes which is the most physically demanding position. Its expected that by the last qtr he may be pretty knackered especially a high intensity game like that.

When I left the game, JHF wasn't even on the list of things I was angry about with that performance. He was one of only a few players that was intent on getting us going. It's very weird how King is so hyper-focused on one instance in his game.

Next week he'll show a freeze frame saying "LOOK, HE'S NOT EVEN MOVING!"

It is actually past sad and pathetic now. David King needs to be taken to task by someone (a coach) with balls. Pity we dont have one because he needs to keep the media onside lest they actually target him for 11 years of ineptness.
Imagine what Clarkson or Hardwick would say to him. let alone Malthouse or even Terry Wallace back in the day.

I don't mind it.

Yes it is over the top and unnecessary.

On the flip side I am confident that Jas has the personality to go away, get fully fit and prove them all wrong. Then call them out publicly.

I am looking forward to the blowback.

Exactly what I was thinking. Would love a coach like Bevo, Hardwick or C.Scott that backs their players no matter what.
Sick of this softly, softly approach with the media because Koch and Ken think that being the nice guys will somehow pay off in the long run.
Ken and Koch’s media strategy has worked perfectly - for Ken and Koch.

“We can see everything. We can see the whole field. We’ve got a wall of screens. I’ve got the ability to look behind the ball, forward of the ball, wherever your eyes go on game day, heck we’ve even got a JHF screen, it’s the same except it’s on a wall screen.”

King is coming off as unprofessional, petty and vindictive here. Once again Horne Francis was second in our team on the night for tackles, a sign of his defensive intent. How many north players in their disgraceful loss to a team that had lost its previous 2 by 10 goals had as many? None. Again. Someone either in the media or our coaching panel needs to call it out for what it is. A grown man using his media profile to pathetically single out a player that has jilted him.

That’s because he is.

That's really weird from King. Almost unhinged.

The player Rachele is on (can't quite see who it was) was right next to him and didn't chase at all. That's not on JHF. If anything he needed to trust his teammates and hold his position in the zone/structure. How many times has a coach said "don't all run to the ball carrier like bees to a honey pot".

I also maintain that he does slow down late in games. His age, limited pre season, surgery and lack of support around him wouldn't be helping.

Nothing on the player that literally stopped? JHF pushes in its a simple draw and pop over the top and just as easy shot. He should have stayed where he was in my opinion Screenshot_20230403-124854~2.png

Next time Hinkley speaks to the media, he needs to rebutt this crap from King.

Lol, Leigh Montagna dismissed it straight away saying he's a 19 year old kid just learning the caper

Eat a bag of dicks King you sociopath. Stop trying to destroy a young man who is coping with enough bullshit already.

Are you referring to this?

This is where a coach with any gusto for his team, players and club would call this it sooner or later. Ken will just sit there and stay silent.

Happy for the new coach to start verbalising a response on national TV.

Yes Holden Hillbilly posted the link about 3 posts above my response.

King is both correct and being unfair at the same time.

Unfair in that he is clearly targeting JHF by looking for instances where his effort was insufficient, ignoring many just as poor efforts from other players on the day, and also failing to mention his 7 tackles.

But is is fair in the sense that no player should be stopping in that situation. Sure there is another player with even more responsibility. And if JHF goes to Rachele he can handball to the player now left alone. But the pressure alone can lead to skill errors.

Once he builds to full fitness I would expect this aspect of his game to improve.

Fox Footy pundits have called out Port Adelaide’s Jason Horne-Francis’ defensive efforts, saying he “has to change” and that Ken Hinkley has a “challenge” to remove such blemishes such from the 19-year old’s game.

In vision on Fox Footy’s First Crack from Saturday night’s' Power-Crows Showdown, Horne-Francis is shown not running back hard defensively as Josh Rachele runs through centre-half forward and kicks a long-range goal from the 50m arc. For dual premiership Kangaroo, it’s become a concerning trend in Horne-Francis’ game.

Not noted there was that the whistle had just been blown and others stopped but then advantage was called.

You stop and are flat footed, no amount of quick thinking, acceleration is going to close a 6-7m gap on a running player.

Should he have not stopped at the whistle? Possibly, but we do have the silliest rule re advantage in any field sport (as noted in the commentary)

Yep, I found an excuse for him and wil stick with it as a mitigating circumstance in this instance

The kid does the Lionel Messi trick and walks when he can….boundary throw in at the interchange bench in the first I think and you see him walk towards where the ruck will be, no jogging/pushing to position
