"Jason Horne-Francis needs to pull his head in" etc - David King.

This is the same David King who led the public rehabilitation of his head prefect teachers pet Andrew Gaff from the very moment he stepped off the field having just smashed Andrew Brayshaw's jaw. He hadn't even had time to hit the showers when King orchestrated this.

King probably had a bet on JHF to win last years rising star

Nah. Kane is being a hypocrite. He has no issue running unfair agendas against young players. See Walsh, McHenry, Rowell, Ginnivan.

While King is rightly being called out, Kornes coming after him is definitely a matter of “pot calling the kettle black”.
See thats historical revisionism, Cornes never went after Walsh. He simply said he believed that Connor Rozee was more of a match winner. Like comparing Robbie Gray and Travis Boak, where Rozee is Gray and Walsh is Boak.

Not really my point. Kane is notorious for going after young players. It’s probably the most pathetic thing he does

What, you can’t buy an ex player a car? Maybe it’s on loan, sooo what they are saying is the club gave Fabien a car and that made JHF want to come to Ports?

What am I missing here.

Good on Flash, showing his support for the club by purchasing the sponsors' products :winkv1:
Yes. The underlying assumption in all this is that a first nations man can't afford his own new car or doesn't work to earn it.

C'mon.

He went out of his way to sit next to Horny on the bench prior to the three quarter time break to talk through what he wanted, knowing the cameras were on him.

He then went out of his way to walk up to Horny at the end of the game in the pouring rain to talk with him, again knowing the cameras were on them.

He then went out of his way in the post match press conference to call out others for targeting Horny - treading the fine line between being seen as a coach standing up for his player and being seen as a whinger. He made his point clear without giving anything for the trolls to feed on.

That was a very deliberate set of actions from Ken to support his young player without making it all about him or embarrassing Horny.

In NO WAY is that not going hard enough given the way the media over plays things.

Say what you want about Hinkley on other matters but IMHO he did everything right in terms of standing up to support JHF on Saturday night in front of a media audience in the hundreds of thousands always looking for an angle.

And MOST importantly I reckon it's pretty clear that JHF thought he got the right level of support too.
Great post and the paradox of Hinkley in a nutshell. It is pretty obvious that the vast majority of players like him and feel supported by him, in turn inspiring considerable loyalty. It is probably a big reason why we have had few wantaways since his time at the club.

Unfortunately he allows himself to get too close to some players, making it hard to make the tough calls and hold them to consistently high standards. And maybe more importantly, he is a sub-standard tactical coach.

Unless there is a miracle this year, his time is finally up.
