He told my business partner last week. Its more about how dissapointed he would be if the Bombers don't offer him 2 years and that he couldn't imagine playing for another Melbourne based club out of loyalty to the Bombers.
He did say it was the Harvey/Shaw connection which made Freo his preferred club. He certainly didn't say that Freo wanted him or that a trade was imminent, just that if he had to move that would be his preferred club.

Essendon would not be able to trade him for anything less than a 3rd round pick.

Offer bugger all for him. If essendon dont give him 2 years and he goes for a trade then he is out of contract and essendon will have to be happy with whatever they can get.

If Essendon are dinkum about rebuilding they'd probably want a first round draft pick for him. But, Medhurst would probably respond to a different coach. Word is he hates Connolly.
Straight swap for Medhurst. I'd love to have him. He's Troy Cook with foot skills. He's also as good as Cooky over head if I remember correctly.dunno4 said:

Where is Jason Johnson from, did he live in western australia?
Maybe that says Polak will play for Sheedy.
Walker is gone from Fremantle but he won't get a lot back in trade. But maybe Essendon take Walker too.

I'm an Essendon supporter, but i dont really rate JJ's disposal. He has the right idea, but doesnt always work out the way he plans it. That being said he is still a duel b+f and think that we should just offer him the 2 year deal.
Great clubman and want to see him spend the rest of his career at the club. Would love for us to make a play for Polak so to see him used in some kind of deal for him would be ideal.
That being said i think this thread is absolute BS...

Doubt ploak will want to play under sheedy, bit to hard for him i suspect.
Jason Johnson is a frontrunner and overated. Dont need him in our midfield seen as we have hasleby, josh carr, matt carr, belly etc.
would struggle to get a game.

Sheedy is one of the softer, more positive coaches in the league
Your other points are valid, although i don't think he is over rated, but one thing he is not is a front runner

He's been our #1 midfielder for years, to think when he's still 28 we'd be offloading him for less than that is crazy. I've got no idea why we're only offering a 1yr contract.

The more i think about it hink i would actually like to pick him up. But once again we cant afford to give away much. Thoughts on what the Dockers coud give?
But dont even bother saying Polak and draft picks because we cant afford to give any away. (other than for Moody if the chance is there)
