News Jason 'McGrath' levels drug-taking accusation at the Lions - Which is categorically debunked

Maybe the AFL might do well to look at Brennan as well particuarly the Q-clash last season when he choked :D

The whole story smacks of someone trying to make a buck to feed his drug addiction. During our reign illicit drugs weren't tested and I can say that half the players in the competition where doing some and the percentage at our club would've been no different. As for the match fixing/spot fixing claims it's crap. The only thing that ever raised eyebrows was the Merrett first goal (which I got at $21 thankyou), when it was common knowledge he would start forward because of injuries to our key forwards. It's also pretty hard to spot fix that because you need to get the opposition in on it as well.

Exactly my thinking.

Just trying to put myself into the shoes of the man who made the allegations.

Why would he make these accusations at a club his has family at, knowing the damage it could cause?

I dare not comment about the family situation as its not my or anyone business to discuss someone else family situation, but the question still remains.

More importantly, why now?

Fairly simple. All sport has been slugged with massive criminal and corruption allegations. Easiest way to get your name and gain 15 minutes of fame.

What evidence?

I think its plain to see, very little in the way of evidence or any credibility of sources. Now I am not a fancy city lawyer, but surely a lack of any credible evidence as the basis of an article must lead to slander. Its tabloid journalism.

Also, anyone else notice all those Brisbane Broncos membership signs outside the Gabba in the last few weeks? Well we all know who owns the Broncs..... and hires journalists like Hammo.

News Ltd, tabloid journalism articles, slande, this conspiracy is too big for me.... I think we need to call in the Hardley Boys....

i finally found this guys facebook to suss it out myself. Sounds like a total idiot.

quoting him - "if some people wanna piss me off here we go"
" i been following this drugs in sport issue and am starting to think about letting the AFL know what i know and who I have supplied and to whom. Cocky little smartarse footballers might be time to drop yas down a peg."
"I can take a lot of them down.. might be time to talk.. family or not im guna reveal all"

From my understanding he got in contact with the CM not the other way around.

It sounds like he has a bit of a grudge against his family more than anything else. Total Douche-bag though.
Feel for Ash.

All fans from their own club always say they are just lies & nothing to it. Now why would the brother come out and admit he was a drug dealer to 6 of the clubs players? Surely the brother can face jail time for owning up to being a drug dealer correct? so if that's the case, he has nothing to lose.

There MAY be something in it, the AFL would be silly not to look into it atleast. Ya just cant push these rumours under the rug. Investigate it, if there is nothing n it, that's fine. But if there is, move on it. If there is something in it, would this affect lions 2002 & 2003 Premiership flags?

Honest Questions. Love my AFL so don't think i'm coming in here to troll. I post relevant stories all over team forum sections on bigfooty.

You'll find that pretty much everybody who has posted in this thread has said exactly what you have just said. The recreational drug users do not surprise is, and you'd have to blind to think that it doesn't happen league wide, but the match fixing allegations are concerning and should be looked at. Having said that, I don't think that the threepeat will be in any danger.

I agree to an extent. Given the serious nature of match fixing accusations can have on a club, it would be foolish not to investigate.

In regards to Lions fans saying its lying and all crap, I think we have good reason to believe so. The report all stems from a confessed drug dealer and therefore you can make up your mind about how credible the source is.

Launch the investigation if need be, but I hope Hammo is ready to fall on his sword if nothing comes from it.

You have my sympathy.

We had one person totally derail our club a couple of years ago.

It proved to be lies, unfounded, and purely trouble making for the sake of fame.

Hopefully this is the case for you guys as well, strap yourselves in for the ride and avoid buying in until 'facts' are presented.

Aren't we all missing the real point here? We now know Hammo has a Facebook account. We can either sit here talking about it until the cows come home or be his friend. I think he needs friends, wouldn't you all say? Maybe we should all try, right now...

haha the age beat him to it!

"It's a long time ago, I must admit that, things that happen on Mad Monday I could tell you because I wouldn't have seen anything because I couldn't remember it because I was too drunk," Akermanis told SEN sports radio station.
Wait, what?

Ya can only say that if you're aboriginal.;)

So let me get this straight. Assuming match fixing means we were paid to throw games or underperform or something similar. Between 2002 and 2004, in winning 65% of our games and 2 premierships and playing in a losing GF, we were doing this? Yeah right. And between 2005 and 2008 when we couldn't win so much as a chook raffle people were putting money on us to lose? Geniuses. Wonder how much they made out of that little plan. And of course the other teams had no say in it. I gonna love to see how this plays out.

I think all Brisbane supporters want this looked into so I do not see this as a troll.

I think the point we are trying to make here is we don't have any faith in the reporter or the person starting the rumors, so at this point we are not worried about it.

Like all, if there has been match fixing we want them named and shamed ASAP. The rec drugs issue, well thats old news, I think every club has 3 or 4 players with a ? on them.

3 or 4 would be underselling it considerably I reckon.

But AD said its all ok;)

This just gets worse... I just uncovered explosive evidence that the Brisbane Bears had strong links to shamed businessman Christopher Skase.I hope the media don't pick up on it.

Our sordid history is unravelling.
