News Jason 'McGrath' levels drug-taking accusation at the Lions - Which is categorically debunked

Hey Hammo,

I just posted on Facebook that Eddie McGuire and James Hird are members of a Japanese Triad, and were seen with various members of their playing lists on working whaling ships.

I have been seen at Essendon and Collingwood games.

Look forward to seeing my story in tomorrow's Courier Mail.

Thanks
'Self confessed stand over man'

I think we're shooting the messenger a bit here.

Hammo could have written that article to sound a lot worse than it did, without making anything up.

If someone else had gotten wind of this idiot cousin of Ash's something really nasty could've been written.

Hammo's article makes it pretty clear from the get go that this isn't a person with much credibility. I don't think we want to start the season by getting into a slanging match with Queensland's biggest newspaper, even if they started it.

Hmm, seeing as though they do so much for us already...

I'm all for transparency and honesty, but the C-M seems one step away from running Bigfoot and alien abduction stories.

I don't think it was necessary for Holmes to take a swipe at the Courier-Mail. They'd published a decent quote from him which I think gets his point across pretty well. It was the messenger who wrote "LIONS DRUG DEN".
Can't get much more defamatory or inflamatory than that.
Scum journalism that is becoming the only sensational rubbish to be found at News facts Limited.

True Tom, but that's the point we are all making. Hammo hasn't done an article on us for months, yet he picks this random BS to throw into the paper, this is the contribution he wanted to make to reporting on the Lions. It has his MO all over it. Something as random and unproven as this shouldn't be reported as news in the sports section of a news paper. It is also the CM's fault for publishing it. This isn't news, at best it's water cooler gossip. So many things could have been reported on, about the community camp the Lions just finished around SEQ and flood affected areas, but this, this is what brought Hammo's head out of the Sun's ass long enough to write a story on us. It is the same thing every year.

I love the approach Holmes has taken to this, he has stood firm and shown some backbone. The CM certainly don't do us any favours, why should we have to put up with this rubbish.

Jason McGrath works/worked for the AFL within I reckon the last six months. I spoke with him on the phone and he told me he was related to Ash. If he was self confessed prior to or during, would not the AFL have done background and reference checks on him prior to employment or subsequent to his being caught and becoming "self confessed". Meaning they would already know what he has to tell.

With the "source gone to ground" part of the article, there is the possibility that Hammo's sold his source right down the river...

Happy to dump the blame squarely on the previous administration also ;)

...and our previous coach.....thank god, all these accusations supposedly happened before Voss and the current administration took hold.

I know Vossy was coach, but only just. He can't be held responsible, or have anyone (and they would!) call for his head.

I suspect that Ash would NOT still be at the club if he was involved in any of these things with his "loving and supportive" cousin.

What an arseh*le this bloke must be!....sic Browny on him!!

It's already dropped off the main page of news.com.au, the Courier Mail still has it up on their main page though.

Although if they're really getting their stories off Facebook, I'm sure the Lions could have a lot of fun with it.

This I agree with 100%.

As I've asked this dud directly, what the hell does the GC have to do with Brisbane? If the CM seriously contends that is is serving the "whole State" [his words, not mine] then it is totally deluded.

In any case you'd have thought any competent journo would have learned from the debacle that the major sports got roped into last week.

Accusation does not equal fact.

Hammo and his loyal band of investigative journalists chasing drugs and cash at the Brissie Lions.

How the Courier Fail retains the credibility to warrant people purchasing it at the levels they do, is dumbfounding for me.

It must really irk these clowns so much that they have to cover the AFL when they pour the money they do into Rugby League. I wouldn't be surprised if they employed some half-wit with a chip on his shoulder about the Lions to provide lousy, negative articles filled with unsubstantiated innuendo on a regular basis. Oh wait...

Even Soccer gets better coverage than us. Oh wait... the Murdoch's pour tons of money into that sport too...

Gotto say, since the article came out, Collingwood supporters have certainly found voice again. Shame they'll always be the club with players connected with 'people of poor standing' and known to abuse the drug testing system.

Guess its ok, because they are Collingwood and havea sole! lulz

It's funny, because our's is a confessed drug dealer and generally dodgy guy posting some shit on FB.

Their's is their president confirming rumours to newspapers.

I don't see these things happening under either Lethal or Voss and even more unlikely when both were at the club at the same time. Move along nothing to see here.

time to cruch the courier mail and hamilton i reckon. tell em to prove it or hit em with the biggest law suite ever seen in australian sport !!

time the sniper got his own back !!

The story didn't even rate a mention on 10 news down here in Melbourne and from the 95% of AFL360 I saw, nor there either.

We could have a press conference tomorrow announcing we literally cured cancer and we'd get 4 minutes of air time tops.
