Any truth to the "wouldn't buy in" line?

Comes across as a very mature and dedicated young man at North.

He loves winning contested footy, belting blokes legally and fishing just like his good mate Cunners.

Pretty straight up solid citizens in my book.
It’s not something I’ve ever heard, but I’m sure there’s other posters that might know something I don’t. He was just shit out of luck with injuries with us, I mean the bloke went spear fishing, got pneumonia and ****ed his whole year.

He's been playing great footy from Round One last year when he was finally fit.
Most Hawk fans have always said he'd be a gun when fit. Whether he'd ever stay fit was always the question. I like him so I'm glad he's finally getting a good go at it.
Has been great for 18 months now. Such a good player - its nice to get a win over the Hawks.
I'm happy with how it's turned out for my club. Wingard has struggled to stay on the park this year but that's not unusual for some new recruits to Hawthorn. He'll be back playing great footy again eventually. If you're happy with Jed then I'd consider it a win-win for all parties involved.

I don't think any Hawks fans were happy to see him go. He showed a heap at the Hawks, just couldn't get on the park.

Glad he's really gone and done something now though because the kid deserves it.

Xavier Duursma needs to be factored into the trade.

Only way this gets close to a Win - win is if Wingard gets back to his best. Jed and Xavier and Ryan are all playing very good football in 2019.

Why though? The Jed trade wasn't for him, or Wingard, or even Ryan Burton. It was for pick 15 and some late pick swapping. What we did from there with those picks is pretty irrelevant. The fact we picked Burton and (through a slight pick upgrade) Blake Hardwick doesn't reflect badly on North Melbourne.

Hypothetically, if you guys had pick 1 in that draft and gave it to Hawthorn in a direct swap for Jed and then we went and blew it picking the next Mitch Thorp that still wouldn't have made it a good deal for North Melbourne. Likewise, if it was a direct swap for pick 99 and we got lucky and drafted a gem who became a three-time Brownlow Medalist it doesn't mean it was a poor deal for North Melbourne.

All I know from a Hawthorn perspective is that it immediately got us the pick we used to get a promising Ryan Burton, who was then an integral part of the trade that got us Chad Wingard - who I'll concede has been underwhelming in the short term, but I'm confident will be great for us in the long term.

If I had the power to undo this deal or let it happen again knowing what it leads to then I would do it again for sure. But if someone else decided to undo it then I certainly wouldn't be upset knowing Jed would eventually get to this point.

I don’t think so. My recall was he contracted life threatening pneumonia and this hurt his conditioning badly and put him back a couple of years.
