Kappa at the end of the day this incident is a valuable lesson to Howe that playing for Collingwood is a lot different to playing for Melbourne.

The "alleged" truth is irrelevant at the moment for him or us.

Let's be thankful he didn't do an ACL playing frisbee/cricket.

Howe is nearly 26 now

You can almost excuse this behaviour from an 18 year old new recruit, but not someone who should be pushing for a leadership position as one of the experienced members of the squad.

I'm with Kappa on this. Howe has made the club look foolish with his ridiculous dog excuse and needs his arse kicked.

I am with you on this one........but I really don't think he understands what being a Collingwood player is all about.....even at almost 26.

Is it an excuse? No

But if Balmy and Bucks give it the tick I really couldn't give a stuff.

I look at it this way, it means Broomy has his foot in the door. It's up to Howe now to earn his spot in our team.

So Howe can stay in the VFL with White?

Guess we gave up too much for Howe then

I'm not talking about ending his career. A fine would be sufficient.

Howe will start in the VFL, that's almost certain.

It's up to him to earn a call up, no special treatment.
Meh. Inflated emotions aside, it looks week 2 or 3 that he might have recovered . With the amount of practice he is missing, I wouldn't expect him to be match fit. So the VFL it is regardless to get that fitness. No need to hand out punishment.
To be honest I don't know what to make of it. It sounds too stupid to be false. And I would like to think that the club would know better then to give it too much spin. And on the other hand, you don't need a tinfoil hat to be very very doubtful.
The joys of being a Collingwood supporter, always some off field drama.

I don't really care what he was doing that caused the finger injury.

I'm more concerned he was playing cricket with a hot spot in his foot. It's Dale Thomas surfing on a dodgy ankle all over again.

Yep was silly while in rehab for a bung foot that needs rest.

If you can't train fully you sure as shit shouldn't be bowling 4 "quick" overs.

The broken finger just compounds it.

Reads as "not totally committed" and we aren't Carlton so I hope the message gets driven home!

Loved this:
A storm erupted within the media after speculation was cats over exactly how the news Magpies recruit came injure his finger. Do they mean cast?

Not nice calling us d***heads.

The only d!ckheads here are the ones who believe that Dogs throw Frisbee's for Howe to break his finger on.;)

Usually when you throw a frisbee with your dog it's the dog who does the catching not the other way around!:p:thumbsu:

Balme says he doesn't care if he broke it playing cricket but if he is too injured to train fully surely he shouldn't be playing cricket.

There is a bloke on facebook saying he is the one Howe dropped to break his finger!

It all seems disingenuous by the club and I am disappointed in them in this instance. They are calling us dickheads and taking us for dickheads.

I don't give a frig Howe the injury happened. I actually like that he was able to exercise at all both cricket and park frisbee. With the training reports I had him pencilled out for the beginning of the season anyHowe.
Howe has been recruited for his marking and scoring at the big end of the season and given our depth we will be resting lots of players through HA. So Howe is not in at the start meh where we need him is in the back end and finals.
Was it stupid? No. Accidents happen. Was he supposed to play cricket? Don't care - the club hasn't restricted other exercise like surfing so unless there was a contract clause does it really matter? Did it happen at cricket? Don't care - but I believe it wasn't. Do all injuries to players only happen on the park or at training? No way, but they are usually covered. There are plenty of AFL players that get soft tissue injuries in the bedroom, around the house and doing other activities with friends, and all you hear is "pulled up at training" the next day.
Please fans don't be too precious as the media have a fixation on sportspeople having to be locked away in cotton wool and when they're not its crisis time. Dur that's why teams have squads its business as usual.
IMO there is nothing in this that will affect our overall 2016 performance.

Don't disagree.
If he or the club has lied - that's the issue.

The only dickheads are the people who immediately think the worse of any situation involving one of our players.
Without any evidence what-so-ever they call both the Player and the Club liars.
Then when the club try to explain it some detail, they simply 'turn their backs' and refuse to listen to the explanation

Dickheads indeed

Sunbot if Howe was fit and firing with no hotspots in his foot most of us would not of bat an eyelid and simply said unlucky about the finger.

Fact is fast bowling with it when he can't even participate in full training isn't a sign of a fully committed player (not doing everything to get over the injury ready for round 1).

Also you need to win games throughout the entire year to make top 4, this rot that you only need to perform at the end of year is nonsense.

In fact most premiership sides tail off due to heavy training and resting players in the last few games. This is only possible if you have performed well start to mid season and acquired enough wins to consolidate your position in the top 4.

There is proof he played cricket and proof he was injured at the time. What annoys me is mouth breathers who blindly believe everything they are told.

The true dickheads are the ones who believe the club and players tells the truth 100% of the time when time and time again things are often leaked that turn out to be the opposite of what was said.

Howe bowled 4 overs with hotspots in his feet. (This is what annoys people the most).
Howe reportedly left game in ambulance by witness' at the match.
Howe breaks finger same day AFTER getting a free ride (by Ambos) to park where he meets his dog who throws Frisbee's at Howe to catch!
Claims on FB that he broke it at the game on a failed catch by those who were involved in game.

If that's important to you fair call.
Not to me. If the club has I think it's called media management. If Howe has then that's between him and the Club internally to sort out. As a fan I'm not into reactive bleating, my expectations are that the Club sorts out problems as and when they inevitably happen and move on so it does distract from the main goal. This is what Bucks has been saying for quite a while "controlling what you can control".
I as a member do not need to know every intricate (grubby or not) detail of every minor issue. I have a life. I'm not part of the Inner Sanctum and have no desire to be informed as if I were. I pay for pleasure that the Club officials will do the best for the Club, not what's best for me, for individual players, for Eddie, for the AFL, for drama queens, and certainly not the media. I'm comfortable feeding the media BS if that helps the Club to success. If they happen to not fully inform me of Sacred secrets or they string a few porkies in there - guess what? I forgive them so long as they deliver flags at a reasonable frequency.

So your happy as a member for your dollars to go to a highly paid recruit to sit on the sidelines for 8 weeks after partaking in sports while injured? Shit I wish my boss was so lenient.
