Traded Jesse Hogan [traded with #65 to Fremantle for #6 and #23]

Hogan is still already averaging more goals a game than Pav over his career... Not suggesting for a second Hogan WILL be better than Pav, but contextually they’re in the same conversation at this point.
How hard is it to realise Pav played predominantly as a defender and midfielder? Goals aren't all that matter. Pav was a duel All Australian at this point in his career.

The one that no other player seems to have really recovered from?

The one that restricted him to 18 disposals, 6.5 marks and 47 goals this year?

That injury that no other player seems to have really recovered from?

Reckon Hogan will be closer to Pav than McCarthy tho. Would kick 50+ every year as the number one forward.

If you want to fill a need then surely we get to fill a need at the same time.

Otherwise you can get Lobb/McGovern. We aren’t miles off a flag like we were last year. We need AFL contributors in return for Jesse. Even Cerra/Brayshaw aren’t at that level yet although by 2020 they’ll probably both be elite which would make me look like a fool.

How about Cox, Langdon and pick 5 for Hogan and a second rounder?
Sorry I'm not that high on Hogan that you can rip apart the rest of our young core just to get him. He's never consistently been able to stay on the park.

You can fill a need with May

People. Jessie Hogan is a 23yo, contracted, KPF that already averages over 2 goals a game over his career. Brace yourself Freo fans, but statistically he shits on Pav at the same age.

Hogan could be one of the modern day greats, he’s costing Freo 2 early first round draft picks. You can wait till next year if you want, but in all likelihood you go backwards having lost one of your best players and we are top 4 again or win it...
lol just look at the stats hahah pav didnt just play fwd for 15 years NUFFF said

Yeah that argument still doesn't work. As has already been stated Pav played his first couple of seasons back and midfield before he finally moved forward. Then later on in his career again played heavy minutes through the middle (check his 2011 stats for possesions and clearances).

You are right in that Hogan statistically averages more goals a game than Pav. By 0.1 goals a game, which isn't much to write home about considering Pavs multiple roles over his career.

oh and here's the comparison link: https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy...id2=12&type=A&pid1=38&pid2=3916&fid1=C&fid2=C

Yes, the one that recurred and stopped him from playing in the club’s first final in 12 years, that one.

It never recurred, he did it late in the year and we didnt bother risking him for the rest of the season.

I would assume Freo will do all of the correct tests to ensure he is sound.

It kept him out of finals matches. That's more serious than resting. No player worth a salt would be rested for finals.

For some reason I thought he had been playing with it most of the season. With our luck with chronic injuries we end up with another Bennell.

Why would you risk further injuring a 23 year old big forward and potentially ruining the rest of his career? We probably should have just strapped Jake Levers knee up as well?

Hogan at Freo would help McCarthy out. Cams more a third tall. Forward line would soon improve.

Interested to see who then gets left out between Brennan Cox and Matt Taberner, considering they're both very good contested marks, and Taberner can nominally (not very well) run relief in the ruck too.
