Traded Jesse Hogan [traded with #65 to Fremantle for #6 and #23]

Totally agree, from memory we gave up pick 3 and pick 13 with 20 back and Dom Barry. He was 17 years old and not eligible to play AFL. So given his progress a minimum 2 early 1st rounders would be required for a to good to refuse trade.
152 goals in 71 games. He's an absolute star.

I've solved it guys, we can close thread (I've edited a trade I posted before)

Freo
Out: Neale,
In: Hogan

Suns:
Out: May, 17 (WC pick)
In: 5, 22

Melb
Out: Hogan
in: May, 17

Brisbane
In: Neale
Out: 5, 22

Edit: Unless the new list manager is a complete muppet, under not circumstance will Melbourne get 5 & 6 for Hogan given our current draft position and his injury history.

Still not sure I understand how Fremantle trades out a very good midfielder for a younger, excellent key forward.

Because every club gets what they need regardless? Because Hogan is often injured which decreases his value (and currently has one of the worst injuries in football for possible long-term effects)?

Might be more:
Brisbane Lose: Pick 5 and Pick 22

Fremantle Get: Hogan and pick 22
Fremantle Lose: Neale and 1st 2019

Melbourne Get: 2019 1st and May PLUS 29 from GC
Melbourne Lose: Hogan

Gold Coast Get: Pick 5
Gold Coast Lose: May and 29

Bolded parts slight alteration to previous trade suggestion. Where does this value everyone?

Neale - ~ 2
Hogan - ~ 4
May - ~ 13

If we say our 2019 first is pick 8 it's a relatively fair deal all around I think.

I may have missed something but you think Neale is worth more than Hogan?

Fremantle won't trade for him this year. We're doing the same as last off-season, reminding him that he's very much wanted at Fremantle and we have a very large contract with his name on it.

He's got a potentially career shortening if not ending foot injury. We'll let him rehab and have a down year with Melbourne then trade for him when he's out of contract for a first and third.

No Melbourne get pick with May that high

Freo
In: Hogan & Pick 5
Out: Neale & Pick 6

Lions
In: Neale
Out: Pick 5

Melbourne
In: May
Out: Hogan

Suns
In: Pick 6
Out: May
Suns will not do it for pick alone. They will ask for pick 5 and a player from Melbourne. It has to be better than next year compensation.

That's some of the most flawed logic I've ever heard. Should we trade Oliver for Ed Langdon too? We need outside run, and he's worth more but hey? We get what we need.

Do you honestly think that if he said, "I want to come play for you guys", we would say "cool beans, we dont want you THAT much, promise we'll bring you in next year"?

When Melbourne say 2 top 10 picks or no deal, then yes. Risk reward and our current situation don't allow us to spend that on a player who will be nearly half the price in a year

I didnt realise in the trade I suggested, the values were that far off (as in difference in Langdon/Oliver ability)? That's some ridiculous leap of thinking since I clearly wasnt suggesting that needs account for the full amount of trade but if you want to deliberately exaggerate what I said to stupid levels then I guess there's nothing I can do.

Do you honestly think Hogan is worth THAT much more than Neale?

Edited because stupid

Yeah so Freo tell him to go and rehab with Melbourne get better and he can wait till next year to come back to Perth? If thats the case i hope Jesse tells you to shove it and signs with the Eagles.

aWhy why Freo be worried about a high draft pick this year though? If you can get Hogan pull the trigger on that. Guess you could trade a future 2nd to GC to get a pick this year. Or try and squeeze it out of Brisbane maybe.

Fair point, but probably nice to continue to bring in some young talent and also not get in a position where we MUST use a first down the track... which is basically what’s facing Melbourne and Geelong and probably other teams.
