Jacobs, Polec & Pittard of course don't count and there is as much evidence that Jacobs wanted out from day 1 as JHF.

Anyway, North booing I get to a degree but you have to remember that there are Vic neutrals booing - what's that about?
Oh no, but you see, Ben Jacobs was nice enough to see out his two year contract.

Which then left us with absolutely nothing when he walked out on us.

But that's different, we weren't in a position where we needed our young high draft picks to rebuild the club... oh wait, it was 2011/2012 when we were at the lowest we've ever been with public calls for us to be folded.

JHF is so dastardly as to leave when North had the most bargaining power they could possibly have - if he'd waited another year, his trade value would be severely diminished.

And let's be honest, if he'd waited another year, the exact same reaction from North would be happening, it's got nothing to do with the breaking of the contract and it being "unprecedented" (even though it's not).

The moment North lost JHF was when they were telling tales to David King and he made a number of negative comments about the kid on Fox.

Everyone understands King is a North media surrogate and he was seen to be voicing a Club view.

Rather than dealing with JHF's immaturity internally, North went after him publically and it was a fatal mistake, after which the kid was never walking back in the door after an exit presented.

I don't think Port posters really 'get' what this is about. It's not simply about a player leaving for another club that happens 'all the time.' (And by 'get' I don't mean understand 'truth'... I mean have an insight into the opposite perspective.)

If they truly got that this was North's first number 1 draft pick, that we'd resisted offers for pre-draft, and which North Melbourne supporters were rightfully invested in supporting as a kid to help build the club's future after previously refusing to 'bottom out', who then chucked it in after one season before his contract expired and, likely, orchestrated this pre-draft, then you'd understand the angst. You yourselves understand how good this kid can be. I think opposition supporters get it, hence the booing. It's the very antithesis of sportsmanship. You expect the number one pick to stay the course and to respect the two year contract at the very least.

It there a right to boo? Of course there is. Is it right to boo a 'poor 19 year old'? Debatable, but if it's without a certain amount of precedent, then I'd argue so too is JHF's behaviour.

Will the boo go the way of the bump, and be consigned to history?
I still don’t think it justifies all of the personal online abuse towards him, but I do appreciate the honesty and directness of this post.

Unless you ask the booers what it's about, how would we know, we can only speculate.

What do you think it's about?

Come on Mof, is that image really necessary?
You’re comparing apples to potatoes here:rolleyes:
I'm literally comparing beer to beer, and the different reactions to beer.

Put down a Venn diagram of those 4 words and you'd find "joking" would pretty much encircle them all.

That said LTK is right, it was a pretty underwhelming piece of wit when it comes to tassie, north and crowd numbers.
Good for you for understanding what a synonym is.

How about you both look up a few examples for having a sense of humour:rolleyes:

Maybe North fans should focus on fixing their own s**t trucks rather than bullying a kid.

Let's start at Goldstein.

Has been extorting cash from North for a decade

Zeibel. Absolute s**t truck on big money.

Etc
Honestly, if we're going to talk about players getting more than they are worth completion wide, Goldstein is one of the last players you'd point the finger at. Loyal and a legitimate gun ruck.

Even just looking at north, they just had to endure a few years of Polec impersonating a $700k pa footballer and TT is still getting paid.

Nope. Beer.
Ok, I think the difference here though is the image on the JHF can shows Jason taking an ice bath with words to that effect to encourage booing.
Lobb's custom can just shows a quirky looking cartoon Lobster character with a wired pointy nose and bleached blond surfie hair.

By reports both brewery’s beers taste like watered down goat’s pee anyway.
I'll stick to Pirate Life Teal cans or the ever-faithful Coppers Green cans thanks:thumbsu:

But the image shows a player in an ice bath, which I'm assured by north fans means it could not possibly be JHF

So how would North react to some company that would seek to make a buck out of Ben Cunnington's health issues without his authorisation?

Before you say its a different situation but its about the commercialisation.

What they were doing is trying to make money out of a large mob trying to bully a young guy and making beer is really just encouraging that behaviour and trying to normalise it.
Honestly don’t think they would bother.
No point headlining a player on your beer can who isn’t best 22.

Boo away. I get it. Him leaving North is probably one of, if not the worst case of sportsmanship in living memory of the afl and it’s showing itself in how often he gets booed and by how many supporter bases are booing. JHF’s infamous behaviour is just unAustralian.

Polec at his best (like his first 8 or 9 weeks at Port) was a talented player. His issue was he was lazy which led to him being about as consistent as a 4 year old. The biggest waste of space and money North got from Port was Jasper Pittard.

As for Goldstein, he's been a great servant of the club and is getting to the stage where the game is moving to more mobile ruckman that can kick goals and he's getting left behind. He's had a terrific career, he's just passed his used by date.
