He's such a great guy too. Shy, unassuming. We could mould him into anything.

The atmosphere whenever he was near it or looked like getting near it was flipping electric. Got an enormous ovation back at the club too.

Wowee!

General footy supporters will come to watch him play, just naother bonus and that atmosphere hasn't been around the ground since we had Wanganeen on are list

I honestly think ill cry uncontrollably if we cant sign him up.

I can't think of anything that could hurt us more than losing Butcher and Trengove this offseason. The light at the end of the lengthy tunnel we've entered this year will be a freight train. All the on field positives we're hoping to see in the next few years will disappear. It could kill the club.

Can anyone youtube some of the footage?

I missed the game because of work, but was taking a sneaky look at my phone for the scores all night. Had a big grin on my face by the end of the night.

We now have to move heaven and earth not only to keep him, but to bring Day to the club as well - if there is any chance of it. No ifs or buts.

Having two potential star forwards capable of drawing people through the turnstiles will be a huge lift for the club.

As for Schulz, his last two weeks have been the bad Richmond version to a "T". If he's not up to standing on his feet to help Butcher, then he can watch from the stands or work hard to replace Chaplin in defence.

Reckon some of you are harsh on Schulz. Saw most of the game and I saw him dive head first into a few contests at ground level, split a few packs and I saw Westhoff shit his pants once as well (although he did rack up some footy). Not many seem to get stuck into Westhoff when he's had a soft game/effort but Schulz cops it every time he doesn't kick a few and work his arse off? Haha ****, I'd have him back here in a heartbeat.

Judge the bloke when you actually hit him lace out. Seems his only chances at taking a grab are from hit and hopes into the forward line atm.

FWIW, Butcher was sensational but I just reckon Schulz is hard done by

The problem with Schulz is that he will never be able to play with another key tall as the second/third option. He couldn't do it with Richo at Richmond, he couldn't do it with Tredrea, he had some success with Westhoff but Westhoff played 40-50% of the time on the wing, he can't seem to do it with Butcher.

Move back to defense IMO. I remember reading that he wasn't bad there on the Richmond board. Can't be any worst than Salter or Pettigrew.

He was a kid when he played along side Richo. Last year from what I saw he and Tredrea were playing further up the field and Ebert was deep forward. Schulz didn't even get a gig as stay at home full forward until that North Melbourne game where he kicked a bag. Schulz can play alongside others as long as he's played close to goals. He's only average as a CHF. Can play CHB pretty well though.

With a perfect 6 goals from 6 kicks Im just sad Butch didnt have another 10 kicks.:eek::eek:.

If our midfeild picks their saggy bloody heads up, he can have a crack at the footy. He needs to be fed. He;s looking like something.

SO why can he kick at AFL level and not be able to hit a Barn yard at SANFL.....

Wow was only a few weeks ago he was a tradeable spud

The crazy world of football. My posts about his crap performances at SANFL level will remain to haunt me for some time yet.
Yesterday was just magnificent and highlighted how much of our problem is mental. Once Butch swung into action, especially after his second goal, a whole lot of his teammates remebered how to play.

I have a suspicion that the Power will not release Butcher if the Magpies make it.
I hope that's not the case. Butch owes the Maggies, they gave him a lot of chances for little reward.

I don't think it's quite time to get off the Schulz train just yet. He's been a fine servant for the last two years and will continue to do so. Deserves a chance to figure it out.

The problem all year Bresh, has been that any time we have a rare positive, there have been more than one negative to counter balance it.

Banner becomes a small forward revelation, Hitchcock goes back to the drawing board.
Trengove plays a beauty, Chaplin plays a shocker.
Lobbe wins the ruck taps, Boak and Gray go to sleep.
Butcher has a day out from limited chances, Schulz fails to get involved.

For all of his admirable efforts in his first 2 years at the club, Schulz remains a 2-goal per game forward. Not bad, if he is capable of maintaining that output as part of a two or three-prong attack. Not enough though if he is the only beacon up there.

Schulzy has stopped doing the basics well in the last 2-3 weeks. He failed to create contests yesterday and one occasion in which he was outmarked by Picken, when we had a crumber ready for the Schulz spoil, was especially bad. He needs to keep his mind very switched on and get back to hard work - presenting hard, crashing in hard, making contests, chasing, tackling etc. Yesterday, we could have done with the sort of perfomance he produced in rd 1 2010, when he created opportunities for teammates without necessarily impacting on the scoreboard.

Not all of us I want traded to GWS for a mini draft puck if possible he is sift as and would much prefer Jay. I'm just not sure if he'll cut it with Butcher or if he'll chop off alot of Butchers work :)

Loved his game, but I hope we are not expecting him to do it next week. Essendon are very much a middle of the road side, but they have an elite defence with a lot of good matchups for Butcher. Pears, Hurley, Fletcher and Carlile are all quality defenders and if Butch can snag a few then it would be an awesome effort.
