Hi guys

We decided to try out having a thread where we would invite West Coast fans to come and jointly discuss the Derby.

Consider this thread neutral ground, it will be given a little more leeway in regards to West Coast fans than we would give on our normal board.

Basically the rules are

- One thread where we discuss the upcoming game
- Hosted on the away team board
- On the WC Board sticky a thread with a link to the Dual Derby Thread on our board post and then lock it
- Even though it is on our board, this thread and this thread only we mod more in the form of a mainboard thread (ie we allow a bit more criticism and statement of views)
- Piss takes are OK but general abuse either way will still get you in strife
- Modding is done by the home board but the other board Mods can make strong suggestions that something is over the line

If you do not like the concept - just avoid this thread.

Is it cross mojonating with the WCE site? That is do they see the same threads as we see here on their site?

Should be a cracker of a game.

We have gone from consolidating a top 4 back to focussing on making the 8, and my take on the Eagles is they ahve gone from bottom 4 to thinking of the 8.

Eagles were good today, but if we can put in 4 quarters we are tough to break.

Few key questions -

Balla and Fyfe - will they be there?
How will we cope without Sandi getting his usual dominance?
Cox mobility - do we just go straight up H2H on him?
De Boer to Priddis (or do we do the old Hase trick and put a Palmer on him?)

At least we both travelled and we have a day on recovery.

May the purple team win.

Crowley has the pace to run with Priddis,

I hope Gaff goes to Hill,

Pav doesn't stink the joint up 2 weeks running

Keplar has the pace to run with Priddis... Keplar is having a great season as well, and was very good last year too. A bloke I'd completely written off years ago, but he is a real success story. Good to see.

It's all the lovin' ;)

Seriously, I thought when you blokes got him: 'WHY???'

But I saw him play that game against Carlton at Etihad last year where Barlow carved up and Kreuzer did his knee. That kind of got me thinking I may have been a bit early writing him off.

Since then I've been impressed every time I've seen him.

Scott Selwood will go to Hill for sure. Gaff wont go anywhere near Hill if he plays.

What the hell do you mean by Pav stinking the joint up 2 weeks running???

Anyway a lot depends on our injuries. We have a fight on our hands this week as West Coast were pretty good today. If Ballas and Fyfe dont come up we may be in a spot of trouble. Will be close either way you would think

I know the weages will be treating this like their Grand Final,

But it is just another 4 points..:thumbsu:

LOL, just like you guys used too back in the day:D

I don't think this is our grand final, I mean cmon, its round 8:p No but seriously, if we were playing crap and destined for the bottom 4, then maybe, but definitely not this year, so early into it.

Are we supposed to be nicer to bluenyellas in this thread compared to the rest of our board?

;)

Every derby has something riding on it.

This one in particular is a doozey!

We lose we drop behind WCE. We win we get a very minor break on them but also reaffirm ourselves as potential top 4 candidates.

WCE are currently playing top 8 football, no question about that.

This is flip of the coin stuff right now.

We must win to simply consolidate place in 8. Dont want to be that team that starts fighting out positions 7-10.

Nah your form has been OK, more your preliminary final

I just wonder who they will use to exploit Pav the other way?

I reckon De Boer will go to Kerr. Stop Kerr and you've killed a lot of their run.

Mundy and Hill will wear tags from the Selwoods. No point minding Priddis because he butchers it.

Yet we're 3-3 and sitting 10th unfortunately.

Best 3-3 team ever?

If we continue to bomb the ball inside 50 the way we did today McPharlin will have a field day.
agree

your first quarter today was some of the most exciting footy I've seen for a while but it's too predictable

I really think they could hurt us through the midfield.

If we lose, it will be in the midfield where we lose it. Kerr was just about back to his best today and was highly damaging. But they were pretty predictable going into their forward line and their backline leaked like a sieve. Unless something changes then they are going to need to win the middle well to win the match. But they could very easily do that. Mundy and Pav will get their hands on the ball, but it could be slim pickings from there.

Two fairly ordinary second halves from the WA sides this week, and the less said about set shots for goal the better.

14.15 vs 11.18.

We go into the game with a workhorse midfield, two tough but stupid brothers and two form key forwards, you go in with 3 classy players in midfield, a dominant ruckman and a player widely regarded as one of the competition's biggest spuds as your #1 avenue to goal. Something's gone horribly wrong... :D

I was in Germany last time we played, for some reason thought it was closer than 75 points - must've been the beer and sausages... Both 2009 derbies were close (with both teams being shit rather than just one) and we managed 9.20 and 8.18, which is likely to happen again this time around. We have a shocking tendency to dominate periods of play for little reward then let sides score against us quickly when we lose the momentum.
