We play dumb footy going inside 50. When we dominate out of the centre we go long and fast to Kennedy, Darling & Lynch and it works.

When we don't dominate out of the centre and struggle to get the ball forward quickly we still go long to contested situations, and it really does not work. We need to learn to use our half forwards and spot up short leads when our 50 is congested.

Even before this weeks games I thought that this Derby was going to be a lot closer than the last few, and that has been enforced by the performances of both teams. We have bounced back from shockers at the MCG before. With our injuries to Balla, Fyfe and Kep the extra day recovery may be crucial. I just hope Harvs puts Pav in the forward line more because he has caused the Eagles problems in the past and I am tipping he will get plenty of goal kicking practice this week to cure his yips. The Eagles are looking a lot better team than the last few years and will give it big shake but hopefully we can get up. I will be one of the 2600 purple minority at the game!

There should be some sort of special concession where we can bring back players out of retirement for the Derby. You guys can have Cousins but we get the Carr brothers. If Ballas doesn't pull up alright we could also get Farmer in.

Jako's going to be on the boundary line anyway, probably best for all concerned that he crosses it at lines up at CHB. Hell, we can replace him with Mark 'Just Add Water' Nicoski and bring in Phil Matera too.
 
I dont like this thread so far there all being too honest an not overrating themsleves making them look like fools.
Even spotting floors in their game an not talking about how great they are coz there 3 an 3 but beaten nobody.

first they stole all our coaches
then they copied our drafting idea of getting a guy thats all hype little return (waterhouse/notacluey)
Now they stole our defensive gameplan from last year.

Sandi vs Cox always love seeing that. Although NicNat rotating through Sandi aswell will make things a bit more difficult for him. hmm should be a close game, Midfield battle very important also kicking the ball through the big sticks. Seemed as though both teams had some trouble with that this week.

While I think your tongue is firmly in your cheek LC, I think he will play a lot better in a Derby, if he escapes the chop that is. There will be some friendly rivalry if they play Masten.
 
I only caught the first qtr of the eagles game today but they looked bloody impressive. I keep waiting for the wheels to fall off but I must admit they look like a genuinely decent team this year. Lol at all the clueless spoilt muppets on their board who wanted Woosha sacked last year.

Having said that, they are our bitches just as we are Richmond's. And strange as it sounds I think our chances of winning this just improved after our pathetic performance on the weekend.

A nice win against the Tiges and we would have gone in feeling self-satisfied and overconfident and gotten rolled. But I've no doubt Harves will have the boys breathing fire come this Sunday... and our best is still better than theirs.

I know he is only a first year player but who is going to be our third tall to go with Darling. Normally you'd just chuck Silvagni on him but do we put Broughton on him.

Also with no Tarrant who goes to LeFrenchmaid ? Tarrant has dominated him the last 2 years. I'd go with Broughton personally.

Exactly why Johnson won't get dropped. He will go to Darling or the resting ruckman. Otherwise Ibbotson on Darling with Broughton going to Le Cras. De boer to tag the crap out of kerr, Pav head to head with Priddis .

I'd put McPhee on him. Has the tank, speed and strength to go with him.
Darling tends to come up the ground looking for the ball, which would help keep McPhee away from the danger zone too. :D

Johnson out, Pav to CHF, Anthony to FF, Palmer into the guts. If we're going to have slow runners in there, we may as well have someone who may get some clean hands.
 
Broughton will eat Le Cras for breakfast. Johnson should go nowhere near Darling otherwise Darling will have a field day.

I watched the Bombers vs Eagles game yesterday, and FMD it would be great if Mayne could play like Crameri. He has everything else Crameri does - marking, ground level skills, and probably better tackling pressure. But his shots on goal are terrible. Crameri had a shot for goal in the same range and angle Mayne did, and just went back and slotted it.
 
Derby 2 last year we had 8 on the board before the maggots gifted the Eagles a couple.If we have a similar period of dominance and kick 2.6 then we'll be in trouble. A solid week of set shot practice is a MUST..We give these Eagles a sniff in front of their crowd and it could get ugly..
